LFC Youth Watch – David Amoo Match Report v Blackburn

|

27th Apr – Liverpool 1 – 2 Blackburn Rovers (Premier Reserve League North) – David Amoo is having an impressive late season spell and scored Liverpool reserve’s only goal in this match as they crashed to a fifth straight defeat. The Reds started off the match well but as the first period went on, Blackburn grew and grew and they clipped the bar just before scoring the opening goal through Jason Lowe.  Liverpool only took 4 minutes to reply though and after good work by young full-back Alex Cooper, the ball found its way to Amoo, who turned a defender and fired a hard, low shot past Rovers keeper Jake Kean. Blackburn responded by putting the Reds under heavy pressure and the defence buckled in injury time of the first half when Matty Pearson headed the ball home to make it 2-1 at the break. Liverpool tried valiantly to get an equaliser in the second half but Rovers always looked in control, and deserved their victory. The loss means the reserves cannot now catch Manchester City in second place and with Rovers three points behind and with a game in hand, third looks pretty vulnerable as well now.
