Here’s the FIVE signings you need Rafa

|

Rafael van der Vaart – At £6-7million, the signing of the Dutch playmaker should be a no brainer if Rafa Benitez has the funds. He has excelled in the last six months of the season despite the fact he started the campaign frozen out at the Bernabeu. The Dutch number 10 wasn’t even given a squad number at the start of the season but has turned his season round remarkably. With Kaka out injured, van der Vaart has capitalised on his chance and has become a firm favourite among Real fans for his class displays. His performances behind Higuain and Ronaldo have been exemplary, playing a critical role in the hole behind the strikers, creating chances for others as well as scoring some vital goals himself. A player, who has flexibility too as he can also play in a wide position, would add that much needed flair and goal threat to the Liverpool attack. Why is he available for such a low price? Because Real want to make room for more expensive signings this summer.

Joe Cole – Probably an unlikely move but I have always been a fan of Cole’s despite his affiliation with the Blues. A creative, skilful English player who would be a very useful addition to the wing, he might be available on a free transfer in the summer if he is not given a new contract by Chelsea. More likely to move to Manchester United or stay at Chelsea, I would really like Rafa to have a go and persuade Cole to become part of something on Merseyside, even if there is no Champions League football next season. A regular starting place and a promise to him that he would be a very important player, you never know what might happen.

Arda Turan – A sizeable fee would be needed to land the young Turkish left winger, and Liverpool would need to sell a couple of players to finance a deal. The sale of Albert Riera and perhaps Ryan Babel would probably give us enough money to sign the 23 year old. A useful player on the ball, he is quick, skilful and is equally adept at scoring goals as he is assisting them. Arda played an important role during Turkey’s great run at Euro 2008 to the semi-finals, and his influence on the left side would come in very handy for Liverpool. The midfielder has already stated his desire to play for Liverpool on a number of occasions, and at his age, we could really be buying a fantastic bargain.

Diego Forlan – His goal on Thursday night against us is typical of the Uruguayan’s style of play. Worked very hard off the ball for most of the night, but pretty quiet in front of goal, he pops up at the vital moment to send his team through. Although a former United player, I wouldn’t have any qualms over signing him, he may even come back to haunt his old team in a local derby! At 30 years old, Forlan is at prime goalscoring age, and with Fernando Torres the only other real class striker at the club, what the Reds need more than anything is goals, and goals right now. Although he was a flop last time he was in England, Forlan now has two European Golden Boots under his belt since his time in Spain; he scored 32 goals last season and 24 goals this season despite Atletico only being tenth in the league. The big stumbling block will be the money that will be demanded for him but if the Reds do have any money this summer, it must go towards a striker because if Torres does get injured again next season, we need a good enough replacement, Forlan may well be it.

Aleksandar Kolarov – With Fabio Aurelio most likely leaving and the inexperienced Emiliano Insua the only first team left back left, Liverpool will need to search for another full back, and look for a relatively cheap one too. Kolarov is an attacking full back who has had an impressive season with Lazio, and many see him as a world class player of the future. Denoted the “Serbian Roberto Carlos,” Kolarov loves to get forward and cross from out wide, as well as being a pretty apt free-kick taker. He has already been linked with Liverpool in the last few months and could be a very exciting prospect. The left back position has been a problem position all season and it is one area we really need to get right in the summer, have you any other relatively cheap suggestions that could be an option in this position for Liverpool to sign in the summer?

‘YOU WILL NEVER WALK ALONE’ THIS IS OUR MOTTO OUR LIFE AND EVERYTHING.

I have been a liverpool fan for 16 years and i have stood by the team through every pain, joy, turmoil and excitement. Have seen managers come and gone, players come and gone…

I just can not believe what has happened to liverpool fans all around the world and what they are saying and fighting with other liverpools fans.

I thought we were the best and the most loveable fans in the world and that we would go through fire for our brothers and sisters including the club and that includes the manager and players. It hurts to see that we have fallen from class, unity and pride, i really thought we were family but something is destroying our love for the club.

A real fan of liverpool would stick with his team come on guys this is nothing we have been through alot as a family but we have to show charachter and class to withstand this problem period otherwise we would be like chelsea fans lol haha just a little joke guys. But i hope you understand what i am saying, instead of putting alot of pressure and negative emotions we should be positive and help our team move forward. God willing we as fan and club will withstand all the negative influence around the club.

We as fans will never really understand what is really going on in the club and how the real finance is arranged internally due to all the politics and mindgames going on. Plus liverpool is like any other business you dont show everything to the public do you. We need a new owner to clear the skeletons in the cupboard and we need to back our team to the final minute. Mr. Benitez is a very good manager and i have enjoyed his reign until now and the fa cup, champions league and other moments. And yes like all other fans i have been dismayed this season but 4 out 5 is better then 1 out 5 good season. We are simple people and simple dreams so bring the simple people attitude back and you will see what happens next season.

People forget we are growing as a club and we are going on the right direction to grow even more financially and brand wise and we fans have to be the ambassidor for the club. So instead of cricising the team we need to stand together and let the club and players and the manager know we are there for them even if it means us singing you will never walk alone the whole 90 minutes and extra time. win loss or draw we give our fullest and you will see that the players will stand up and hold there heads up high and fight for everyballevery tackle every …. you understand. Time for the real liverpool fans to stand up and show what makes us special as a family and as a club….

god bless everyone and stay positive family
lets start to implement this on the chelsea match.
Next season with the same team you will see that it will be a different results i bet my life on it…

    KRASIC, ER NOT REALLY, WHAT HAS HE DONE ONE YEAR AS A GOOD PRO! TURAN , MATA SILVA MILNER ARE ALL BETTER EVEN JOE COLE IS BETTER. TEAM WITH INVESTMENT COULD LOOK LIKE THIS;

    REINA
    JOHNSON CARRAGHER SKRTEL AGGER
    MATA MASCHERANO AQUILANI TURAN
    GERRARD TORRES
IF WE CAN NOT EVEN GET THIS TYPE OF INVESTMENT WHICH IS STILL TWO TOP CLASS PROS SHAORT OF WHAT WE NEED THEN WE ARE IN TROUBLE.

    MATA WOULD COST 16 MILL
    TURAN WOULD COST 14 MILL
IF WE CAN NOT SPEND THAT WHEN MOST TOP CLUBS WILL SPEND AT LEAST 40 MILL THEN WE ARE FCUKED.

I dont like this list of recruits, they might be barrgains but it is not what Liverpool needs now.

Joe Cole – to injry prone, he is fine for Chelsea who has a lot more depth in their team and even they will let him go, Mata, insted, would be real deal for Liverpool.
Van der Vaart – just not good enaugh for Liverpool, not better than Yossi, probably will never be. Silva, the man we would want!
Arda Turan – not proven in the big league, but probably best of here mentioned 5.
Forlan – very good, but to expensive and , and to old, I dont think he would work well with Nando, Benzema would be better; Aguero-offcourse.
Kolarev – well, I just dont think he would solve Liverpool’s left full back problem, Taiwo would be a lot better.

These players I mentioned cost money, and money needs to be spent. As I recall, barrgains turn aut to be more expensive becouse they waste time Liverpool no longer has.
    Liverpool needs to improve ASAP!

Kop Prophet is spot on !!!!! we need a new manager, new owners and an attack minded philosophy . We need to buy like of old 1-3 world class players per season not a group of continental muppets like Degen, Dossena, Babel,Lucas, Ngog, El Zhar, etc and give the kids a chance !!!!
Benitez has failed because of a pigheaded attitude problem, an unforgivable failure to buy world class back up for Torres and Gerrard , a man management style which is a joke and the most negative approcah to footbal at LFC i have ever witnessed. The guys a Joke !!!, blames everyone but his own massive shortfalls , naff off to Turin Benitez, youve done enough damage to LFC.
