Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has stated that it maybe time for Rafa Benitez to move on. He believes that after 6 years, the time has come for a natural parting of ways and cannot see Rafa having the desire to rebuild another team without funding from the board. He wrote in his column in the Liverpool Daily Post:
“He would basically have to rebuild a team yet again and would his heart really be in that? The longer the wait for the sort of investment he needs to bring Champions League football back to Anfield goes on, the longer Benitez would have to rely on players of the calibre of Babel, Kuyt, Ngog and Aquilani – and as has been proven this season, that’s just not adequate. If Benitez feels dissatisfied with what he is working with it just increases the resentment and the disunity in the club. It can’t be allowed to linger on any more.”
Commenting on the match against Chelsea on Sunday, Lawro said:
“I was at Anfield on Sunday and what I saw wasn’t a Liverpool team not trying or rolling over to allow Chelsea to win – it was a team that just wasn’t good enough.”
Surprise, surprise, Lawro! So, lets give him the new owners and the dosh we need to do things the way we want them to be done, which means winning! He is one of the best managers in the world and he can get the job done if given enough support.

Since the days Lawro played, money has always been provided by managers, not owners, for team/squad improvement. Why can’t we all understand what Lawro does? Shame on you Benitez for not coming upto Lawro’s expectations.
