Palermo Chief: “The clause has tied our hands together”

|

Palermo’s sporting director Walter Sabatini has given hope to any potential suitors for centre-back Simon Kjaer’s signature after he indicated that he cannot stop the Danish defender being sold if a club offers the release clause of £10.3million for the player. Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus and Inter Milan are all said to be interested in the 21 year old and this revelation may attract bidders sooner rather than later. Sabatini told the Gazetta Dello Sport:

“Everyone knows Kjaer’s situation well. The clause has tied our hands together, we tried to increase it, or get rid of it altogether, but his agent rejected it. A sale depends on the player. If he accepts a top club offer then he will go. Or, if he wants, he can stay with Palermo another season to continue his development.”

Kjaer has stated in the past his desire to link up with Danish team-mate Daniel Agger at Anfield and this latest piece of news will be of interest to many clubs who have courted his signature.
