Cole to leave Chelsea

|

Joe Cole will leave Chelsea on a free transfer at the end of the month, according to the Daily Mail and the Guardian. He will leave along with Blues team-mate Michael Ballack and it will inevitably lead to a rush for his signature. Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester United, Manchester City and even managerless Liverpool are said to be in the running, according to the papers. One of the major reason’s for Cole leaving Stamford Bridge was his apparent demand for a wage of £100,000 per week. Even many of the top clubs, such as potential suitors Arsenal and Spurs, will struggle to meet his demands and he may well have to lower his expectations if we wants to have regular first team football next season. Cole, despite being in England’s World Cup squad, played only a bit part role for Chelsea last season after suffering serious knee injury in an FA Cup third-round replay at Southend United in early 2009.
