Torres “Flattered” by Inter Interest

|

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has told Radio Marca that he is “flattered” by apparent interest being shown in him by Inter Milan. The Italian club have been linked with the Spaniard since the arrival of Rafa Benitez as manager at the San Siro. Torres told the radio station’s Onda Cero programme:

“It is always wonderful to be linked with big clubs. I can’t help but be pleased and flattered. It seems to me fairly normal that the big clubs should be interested in the top players of sides who are struggling. For example, Liverpool are out of the Champions League, while Valencia are in a terrible economic situation. Aside from rumours, as far as I know there’s nothing concrete.”

Spain play Portugal in the last second round encounter of the World Cup tonight.

I hope that wasn’t an accurate report otherwise it’s a thickly veiled threat that Torres will be leaving for pastures new!!

will somebody please, and by ‘any’ means necassary, get rid of Hicks and Gillett. these players will not leave if a quick sale is complete to someone with money to invest. if they are not in place within 2-3 weeks players will leave and i for one wouldnt blame them.

Can the board hurry up and make some important decisions, they should have gave the job to kenny so he could have settled the ship and gave us some direction!

We need to get rid of the bad players and do some work in the transfer market very soon!

I honestly believe only if gerrard goes so will Torres, up to our captain then…..

Would you be happy earning a ridiculous amount of money each week playing for your boyhood hero team and not winning the league, or moving to spain/italy/wherever the sun shines and wages are double and your missus has better shopping opportunities than Liverpool 1 and the metquarter, but you get a la liga etc winners medal?

I suppose it must be hard for Steve though not winning a premiership medal, each week having the drudge of pulling on a Liverpool shirt and a captains armband, having run out in front of The Kop who comletely and utterly adore him, and only earn a few million a year to boot.

I can see why he might consider moving his young family to a foreign country away from it all, cant you?

sure nando supposedly told a man city fan his heart was with Lfc!!……………listen, until we actually see and hear an interview with FT, we should treat press speculation for what it is…a paper-selling business! time will tell, we just have to hope SG and FT are honourable men who stick to their word…..stevie committed his career to Lfc and nando stated that he hoped for another 10 yrs at anfield!….we’ll see

Why would Torres and co want to stay with us? The current owners and board are showing no interest in moving the club forwards. The have lied about transfer budgets and are on the verge of bringing in an very average manager (had one good season with Fulham)AND they will be able to sell our best players now that Rafa has gone.
