Fulham winger Simon Davies has warned Liverpool players that they will be in for a shock when Roy Hodgson takes his first training session. According to the Welsh international, training under Roy will be slightly different to what they are used to:
“Every day is geared towards team shape – and it shows. We would have a little laugh about it now and again, but when he came to Fulham we were fighting relegation. His management style took us to a Europa League final, so you take it. I don’t want to give any secrets away, but he gets the 11 that he wants for a match and drills everything in that he wants. It’s defensive drills and certain attacking drills – with no diagrams. It’s all on the pitch with the ball.”
Davies believes that Hodgson was the best manager he ever played under and is now considering his future at the club, according to the Daily Star. Steven Gerrard has also given his backing to the appointment:
“The club have made a good appointment in Roy Hodgson. Rafa left a few weeks ago and I know the club were determined to take their time and get the right man for the job. Roy is hugely experienced and I believe he is the right man for Liverpool. I think it’s been worth the wait and I’m sure he’s just keen now to get on with it and start to quickly put in place his plans for the new season.”
Look at the difference in language.
Carra says “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity of working with Roy Hodgson” – no doubt where he’ll be next season.
Gerrard says “I think he’s the best man for Liverpool”, you can almost hear the bit missed off at the end – “that club I used to play for”.
Yes true I thought that as well mate. That’s the only part that worries me!!

Now that he’s been officially confirmed, I for one is prepared to give the man a chance and, see what he can do with the best players he’s ever managed……fingers crossed!
Gerrard said Roy Hodgson “is the right man for Liverpool”. However, Gerrard should have elaborated that “Liverpool is no longer the right club for him”.
Gerrard can hardly move to another prem club. No new players worth a cracker will come with a 15M budget, so he should leave while he can still go to another top Euro club. Make no mistake Liverpool are on the path of Leeds Utd.
If we hurry we should catch Leeds Utd. up…….
Don’t care anymore. I have had enough of the saga.Fans come last again as per normal. The club will never get another penny off me. I am not willing to let greedy businesmen abuse my loyalty. I have been all over europe watching my team and have had a brilliant time, but enough is enough.
