“Just a few details remain” before we sign

|

The agent of Wigan left back Maynor Figueroa claimed yesterday that a deal with Liverpool was all but done. Quoted in the Daily Mirror, he said:

Just a few details remain before we confirm the signing.”

The deal, according to the newspaper, is worth £5million and the Reds are gradually edging towards finalising an agreement. Honduran international Figueroa, has appeared 72 times for his country, and the 27 year old played in all three of Honduras’ group games at this year’s World Cup.

Sorry but i do not believe he is of Liverpool standard played in an extremely shaky defence last year, hope he is not first choice.

I do hope this is all true as I believe he’d be a good signing who can go straight in to the starting eleven. How he’ll cope with the standard expected at Anfield (as compared with Wigan) is yet to be seen….but we must remain hopeful.
We still need another, I’d go for Salcido (30yr old Mexican from PSV)? He could teach Figueroa a few things while competing for the starting LB role (&provide vital back up in case of injuries etc).

We still need a 2nd striker……Carlton Cole anyone?!

we’re probably playing it slow to see if we can get £50m for Torres, once the yanks take £40m that should leave us £10m for a proper left back.

  • Let’s hope it’s real. Just sign him we are desperately looking for a left back. Why did insua leave? He improved in his last few games. We don’t need rumours we have to see things happening. Dk’2

Daboy we dnt have any other left backs so ofcourse hes going to be first choice.

Personally id rather have Salcido hes stronger and better at the back and going forward and hes cheaper.

But if this is true then good luck to the lad hope he performs well for us.

I don’t understand why we didn’t keep Insua as back-up as he may have counted as home-grown.

  • Jim2010 says:

Insua was pants, let;s be really honest folks. He looked good only when not playing every week (&even then he looked too small). Selling him at all was good luck & news for LFC. He was never nearly good enough.
The more I think about it the more sense it makes to buy in Salcido for the same reasons Zahid gave. We’d still need a back up player but with funds so low maybe we’d need to pull up a younger player from the academy, is there anyone….?

i agree with the arda turan signing but think he may end up costing between 15-20 if a bidding war started surely we have other defenders who can play left back i been playing right back and left back left wing right wing all my life, only difference is i pay three pound to play and a bet not one of the gel headed pussies in the premiership would get past me ,34 by the way feel sixteen and still just as quick if not quicker than anyone i come up against so roy save your money by me ill show u a real tough tommy smith approach old school lol
ill pay my subs to wear the shirt and ill pay you a signing on fee what do u thoink guys

Jay – The cheque is in the post!!

  • pbro says:

Crouch? Why in the world would he want to join liverpool again? (no offense intended) He started his career at Spurs and has already said that’s where he intends to finish it. Plus, I doubt he’ll want anything to do with the Europa league, having been one of the main reasons Spurs finally qualified for the CL.
There’s plenty of good strikers out there and it’s best to not get obsessed with the image of signing a player that is virtually impossible to sign.

  • jay says:

cheers blindside (roy) cant wait to work with you stevie and that-i have actually scored as well off a stephen gerrard cross ,he played for my school team lol

  • m kop says:

After Liverpool spent 5 mil. on this player he will definitly be first choice left back.
I hope he is good enaugh.
I prefered Taye Taiwo but he would probably be too expansive for Liverpool now.
But if they are selling Mascherano, they could have spent more and get Taiwo…

  • mike89 says:

watson red – caicedo and crouch? haha, you’ve lost it son

  • albey says:

Doesnt it say a lot for the academy when we cant even produce a home grown left back that is ready to walk in to the first team i no we have robinson but he is to young yet we brought insua through the ranks and were selling him so he obviously wasnt the answer from the outset of his career at lfc we sold a germany boy to fulham who was far beter prospect than insua we are paying out millions of pounds on the academy and not seeing the value for money to date now we have to go out and spend several million pounds to bring in a left back and two out of the three being mentioned are over 30 years of age which to me means there only stop gap players so we ar wasting money that at present we do not have
