Rumour Mill: Reds in for City Full Back?

|

The Daily Mirror are linking Liverpool with a move for Manchester City left back Wayne Bridge. The 30 year old’s future has become increasingly uncertain after Roberto Mancini moved for Serbian international Lazio’s Aleksandar Kolarov for £17million. Bridge was brought to City by Mark Hughes last year in a £12m deal but after a good start to his career at Eastlands, a long term knee injury and poor form have cast a shadow over his future as City’s number one left back. The impending arrival of Kolarov has led to growing speculation about his future, and with Roy Hodgson looking for a new left back, after the anticipated sale of Emiliano Insua to Fiorentina for £5m, the Mirror believes the Liverpool manager will turn his attention to the Englishman.

After signing Cole(28) and Jovanovic(30) why are after yet another old player? It makes no sense to sell of the young players and buy guys that are close to being past their best. Think again I say. Taiwo is a better athlete and has no previous injuries to worry about and he’s 5 years younger than Wayne.

It makes sense when there are young players being blocked by bigger name signings. Kelly, Robinson, Mavinga (current u19 french international) and Cooper can all play on the left but just a couple of years short on experience.

Would be a great steady signing and allow younger players with LFC in their blood a chance to come through.

    vote for taiwo too…
