Spanish newspaper AS is reporting that VFB Stuttgart will reinvest some of the €10million received from the sale of Sami Khedira to Real Madrid in buying Liverpool right back Philipp Degen. German international Khedira is set to complete his move to the Bernabeu and didn’t travel with Stuttgart yesterday to play Norwegian side Molde. AS believes that Stuttgart have already lined up potential transfer targets with the money they will receive from the transfer and former Swiss international Degen is one of their primary targets. The 27 year old has been told he can leave Anfield by Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson as he looks to raise funds for new recruits.

Lucas isn’t that bad. He is certainly better than Degen that’s for sure. If Lucas is really that bad than why does he get picked to play for Brazil? Sure he’s not a great athlete, not the best passer and doesn’t play with a lot of urgency but after Gerrard he is our best all-around CM. Would I sell him and buy Defour, YES. Would I sell him to buy Ireland, NO. Ireland can’t tackle but Lucas was one of the best ball winners in the Premier League last season.

He should put that on his CV.
