Did an ill advised bicycle kick sideline our Dutch star?

|

According to the Daily Mail, an ill advised bicycle kick in training led to Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt landing awkwardly on his shoulder. The incident which occurred on international duty tore ligaments in his left shoulder and he will now be out for four weeks according to Liverpool. Reds doctor Peter Brukner said:

“Dirk has damaged his shoulder at the A-C joint, which is between the collar bone and the shoulder. He is likely to be out for four weeks.”

It means the Dutch forward will miss matches against Birmingham, Steaua Bucharest, Manchester United, Northampton, Sunderland and FC Utrecht.

  • Yunus says:

Dirk Kuyt should be fined by the club as this was irresponsible of him attempting to bicycle kick on the training ground , nevertheless I hope RH will suitabely replace him in the forthcoming matches

Fined for attemping a shot….dont be stupid

  • Yunus says:

Dave , it would be OK if the b/kick was tried during a game , not on the training ground ,

  • Tom says:

Why would he attempt a bicycle kick when he can’t even trap, control, pass, head, cross, shoot standing up or any other basic skill ????

  • Steve says:

you’re right yunus, maybe in future kicking of the ball should be avoided at all costs on the training pitch lol, daft comment, these guys are footballers, they have the right to exercise their skills on and off the pitch, how else are they to improve!?!

  • Law says:

He’s as tough as old boots,,, back in two weeks.

  • Red Barron says:

So Yunus, where the hell do you think players gain their skills? Just run out on the pitch and do sterile stuff they practised in training? Don’t be ridiculous! They have to train, they have to try different things, and sadly that occasionally means they get hurt, even in training. Any professional sportsman knows that is the way it goes and you just have to live with it.

Tom, who are you? A Manc? Defo not a Red fan or you’d know how big a part Kuyt plays in our team. The number of assists he has racked up is impressive indeed. Torres, etc cannot do it all on their own. Kuyt CAN control, pass and head the ball. Come to that, he can do the bicycle kick too but this time it didn’t come off. C’est la vie!

Hope the injury heals quickly Dirk, we want you back ASAP.

  • LFCKASH says:

Tom, If Kuyt is so useless, why is he the one playing for his country and LFC and you are on here making uneducated, classless comments about a player who plays for the club you alledgedly support?

Why are you not playing for LFC and whichever coutry you are eligible for?

    Muppet!!

Red Baron….I’m a Red and never miss a game and been a regular for 40 years. I’m not getting into an arguement with you but I stand by what I said, he’s not Liverpool quality as most Anfield goers would admit. He gets the odd goal and assist but everything usually breaks down when he is involved. On top of everything I said he’s way to slow for the Prem. We will never win the Prem unless we improve on players like him. We should have sold him this summer for a decent price on the back of a half decent World Cup…….. Rant over

  • Law says:

I agree with Tom,,, Kuyt has a big heart and runs for ever,,, but no real invention etc. Watching Elia play for Holland against Finland right now,,, he is a right handfull,,,, I hope the rumour he is in our sights is right,,, he would be a great buy.

  • Mike Arms says:

Kuyt even makes Sean Wright Phillips look good.
Liverpool need a real technically gifted fast winger, not a slow ex striker. The fact is if we had a real winger Kuyt would never get a game, he can’t play up front on his own and he’s not gonna dislodge Cole or Gerrard from the 2nd striker role. Let’s hope whoever takes his place whether it be Maxi or Amoo, they keep him on the bench where he belongs.

  • Martin says:

    Why Lucas never injury????
