Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has stated that although Inter Milan wanted Javier Mascherano more than Dirk Kuyt, he hopes the Italian club don’t come back for the Dutch international in the January transfer window. He told Sky Sports:
“Moratti insisted more on trying to get Mascherano than Kuyt. What demonstrates this is the official offer that arrived from the Milan-based club for the Argentine. It was an offer that did not satisfy us or meet or valuation of the player. As for Kuyt, I hope that Inter do not come back and try to lure him away during the next transfer window.”
Kuyt confirmed yesterday that he was subject of interest from Inter during August although he was happy to stay at Anfield.

Although I personally like kuyt as a player but with lfc point of view he should have been sold as what lfc lack is width from the wings he is a hard worker with lot of running but we genuinely needs a player who is quick can take his man in one to one situation and can send in good crosses. We are lacking a good solid right sided winger in the mould of navas. I wonder how can west ham buy a winger i don’t know his name but he is rightsided midfielder and he was excellent in west ham’s 2 games(only shining point) in 2 defeat s. They can find a true wi nger why can’t we

that’s true in the sense of skills, tricks and flair, but he is so blooming reliable and has scored some important goals for us. He’s honest and solid. Good in the team… But i’m sure a price over £12m for a 30 yr old would be good business?

The only thing reliable about Kuyt is that he needs at least 3 touches to get a ball under control and that he will pass it to the opposition. complete waste of time. i could go out there each week and try hard run around a lot and do fuck all but i am sure the club wouldnt pay me $40k a week to do that. Turan would be twice the player he is. LFC is a joke from top to bottom.

what some of you chaps dont seem to see, is what mr shankly would see in him, a player with a quick football brain and quick feet (different from pace) kuyt like the great peter thompson holds the ball up out of defence often waiting for the cavalry to catch up, he is the 2nd best header of a ball we have and should score more headers. he probably has the most assists and scores important goals – why cant you see this.

No pace, no skill, yet he plays on the right wing, makes no sense to me, he’s more of a defender than a midfielder/foward. Get him out!!

given current situation, we should play kuty and babel more as striker to support torres, and ngog. no point crying that we have no striker if torres gets injured again, we have to make do with what we have. both kuyt and babel came to liverpool as strikers.

If only everyone who wears the shirt had his attitude and spirit we’d be playing CL football this season.Showed his true worth in the World Cup and as previously mentioned he’s dug us out of so much crap in the past.Could perhaps be a future captain.Certainly sets a good example on and off the pitch.

All these people disrespecting Kuyt? Aside from Gerrard Reina and Carra, he’s been the only reliable player from the beginning of benitez’ reign.

I think Kuyt is a very reliable player, but he does lack a certain something that you would regard as world class. But, unfortunatley, our club is in a major crisis at the moment, if this transfer window has shown us anything, it is that players seem to very reluctant to join us at the moment. VanDeVart, Hleb, Ben Arfa, all world class, all didnt want to sign for us. 2 of those 3 signed for mediocre mid table teams.
So we need to understand that getting rid of Lucas and Kuyt and replacing them with more competent players in theiry is what we need, the current predicament leads players to be very wary of signing for us. Turan aside, and i have no idea as to why Roy is turned off this proposition, there a very little players that are wanting join what looks like, unless the club is sold and quickly, a sinking ship.
I hope the club is sold soon, otherwise these will be the darkest days in Liverpool history, one that we may not recover from for some time.
I am just being relaistic, the 2 americans have dug a whole so deep, that it will take us several years to get out of, even with new owners it will take some time for us to be at the top.

why do we need a right winger when we have a fullback that loves to raid down the right wing at every possible chance kuyt takes some of the pressure off torres because defenders no he is going to move inside along side torres you no like the goal he set up last week for torres the lads worth his wait in gold the lad can pick his wages up knowing that he has earned them unlike some players would a right winger track back all through the game no he would be standing with his hands on his hips the way most wingers do some of you people on this site need to get a grip of your selves you would probably of slaged king kenny off if he was still playing we are very lucky to have a player like kuyt at our club and with remarks like some on here we could loose him

Kuyt gives a 110% but he is not the best when played at the wings. He is more of a striker than a winger. I personally feel we should sell the Dutchman as he is ageing and if we don’t sell him now, we might not get the full amount the player is worth (15M at least). With the 15M, we can use 12M to get a quality left-winger like Juan Mata. he’ll cost about 12M. He’d be the solution to the lack of depth on the left flank.
