Broughton: “Bid allows us to focus on investment in the team”

|

Liverpool FC chairman Martin Broughton believes the bid from New England Sports Ventures will finally mean that money will be invested into the team:

“I am delighted that we have been able to successfully conclude the sale process which has been thorough and extensive. The Board decided to accept NESV’s proposal on the basis that it best met the criteria we set out originally for a suitable new owner. NESV’s philosophy is all about winning and they have fully demonstrated that at Red Sox. We’ve met them in Boston, London and Liverpool over several weeks and I am immensely impressed with what they have achieved and with their vision for Liverpool Football Club. By removing the burden of acquisition debt, this offer allows us to focus on investment in the team. I am only disappointed that the owners have tried everything to prevent the deal from happening and that we need to go through legal proceedings in order to complete the sale.”

NESV was established in 2001 by by American businessman John W. Henry and Tom Werner. It currently owns the Boston Red Sox as well as 50% of the Roush Fenway Nascar Racing team.

hes not goin to invest like man city ownrer or chelsea owner…but he will give hodgson around 30 mil plus player sale cash(babel + maxi +lucas and may be some youngsters)which will give us around 50 million…1 a decend stiker 2 arda turan 3 juan mata 4 steven defour…this will recover some damage for sure

Yes. he has wonderful record in handling sports clubs. We dont want one like manc or chelsea owner. We want the one who understands the game and spends wisely. Even if we buy top 20 players in the club we can field only 11 and have 3 sub. bring some good players of age around 25 who can play for a club like LFC. and bring our good reserve players to limelight

Vinod nice idea, I think turan and mata are good wingers, defour want to go to utd. but we need a good striker, someone like a forlan or dzeko even adibayor. Sell lucas, babel, spearing and maxi then get back aquilani, the guy is good, I’ve seen him, he just need a chance. My team reina-johnson-agger-skertel-konchesky-mata-mierles-mrliverpool(sg)-turan-forlan-torres. 4-4-2.

@ RED i totally agree with you..we need a striker who have attributes similar to rooney.ie in our full team he should slot behind torres ie who can dictate play to extend ,explosive technically gifted and the ability to put in throu ball..at the samr time can also play up front wen elnino is injured…but were will joe cole play then…joe cole an very average player wen he plays in the wing….interesting decisions to be made

the fans should insist that the new owners take away any perks from david moores if he still has any.
