A message to in an effort to rediscover our firepower in font of goal. Start upfront.

The 29 year-old Serbian has a very good goal-scoring record as a striker with his former club with 69 goals in 153 appearances for the Belgian side.

Indeed, he was named Belgian player of the year in 2008 and won the Belgian Golden Boot award in 2009 with 16 goals in 29 games.

With injured again with a groin strain and not able to cut it in the Premiership as yet, if I were Roy Hodgson, under as much pressure as he is, I would definitely start Milan in the Merseyside derby on Sunday-week. Did you see how well he put away his goal against in the League Cup defeat ? It was very well-taken and there is much more to come from the Serbian International, if he is given the right opportunity.

As an out and out forward, he has the physical presence to unsettle defenders and he has a proven eye for goal both for club and country. So Roy, you have got nothing left to lose at this stage, give the man a run up front and see if he can turn our club’s fortunes around.

John, You should take over the Liverpool managers job, I thought the same thing but lacked the B****s to say it.

He gives us strength and looks like he can put he ball away as well as link up.

I think thats why Rafa got him.

My first choice team at the minute would be 442 (when all fit)

Reina – Kelly, Agger, Carra/Wilson, Koncheskey – Johnson, Gerrard, Mereiles, Cole – Torres, Jovanovic.

Or Babel along side Jova if Torres isn’t fit.

We need to ditch more useless players, Lucas, Poulsen, Ngog, Kuyt, Maxi, Skrtel.

I don’t believe in Milan Jovanovic.

  • Zahid Says:

Give the younger players a chance from our reserves, we might find some decent talent. I know theres alot of potential in that squad so playing with the seniors would do them well, and i can’t be any worse than watching Poulsen and Lucas etc everyweek……YNWA

Roy could try him there, but we still he a striker. I think roy should sell babel and lucas then get folan or dzeko, both are very good strikers, but forlan would be cheaper because of his age. Then get back aquilani to fill the void left by lucas, he shouldn’t have sent on loan in the first place cuz he is one of our best midfielders, and 2 times lucas. Then the team look like this reina glen jamie martin paul steven raul dirk joe torres forlan 4-3-3 or 4-4-2.

I am sure this is what must happen in giving him a run of games up front.
If though he fails to achieve, a January exit may be a good decision.

It’s a good shout, one of our biggest problems right now is we’re playing too many players out of position and Jov is predominantly a striker. I also think Zahid makes a great point. We keep complementing our talent coming through but are refusing to give players like Amoo, Suso, Shelvey and Robinson a chance. It never used to be like this.

It’s a question i’d like to ask Hodgson, i’m surprised he has’nt played him as out and out striker yet, i say, give him a chance, he’s not bad, he’ll score goals i’m sure.

Oh you’re back Silver Fox. what do your friends on the “inside” think about the furore then. Are all the leak rumours true?

  • Antix1 Says:

I think Roy should play him as CB, out Carra Striker, Lucas on the wing, Babel at RB, Ngog as the other CB, Torres at LB, Gerrard in goals, Reina RW, Konchesky CF, Cole CDM, Kuyt CAM. Roy seems to like playing everyone out of position so lets go the whole hog and change the tema around completley. We cant do any worse than what we are currently doing….

Give Jova a go upfront, we have nothing to loose

  • Eric Says:

Jova’s goalscoring record at Liege speaks for itself. It’s simple, give him a run up front. He’s strong, fast and has a decent finishing ability so why not give it a try?

The last game against Blackpool said it all! i mean come on we had a center back being used as a forward near the end of the game, and the sad part about it Kyrgiakos did a better job than the strikers we had saying this i agree what Antix 1 is saying about Roy playing players out of position.
Sell Torres as he will never stop getting sick notes till he leaves if i went sick as much as he does i would be without a job by now!!!

  • Defiant red Says:

two names that should be included:

David Amoo and Suso!could they do any worse than we already are in front of goal? this season to a large extent can be already written off. so, lets look to improve the squad (new owners, get your wallets out) and to promote from the youth ranks, we need the next Stevie G to come through!
lets start to build a team in the next year or so, one that will keep LFC going for the next 4-6 years without a massive amount of investment , then money can be freed up to build this F*cking stadium that should’ve been already built by now.

lets get back to winning ways, we are LFC!

Milan Jovanovic? Really? Do you guys goto Anfield? the guy is terrible..

Ngog is a raw diamond, trust me he is going to be sensational.

Babel should be up front for definite.

Agree that the youngsters should be playing some part, Amoo, Shelvey and Pacheco definitely deserve to be on the bench.

    Lucas isnt that bad.

Poulsen needs to get a haircut

Gerrard and Torres need to wake up

Hodgson needs to grow some ba**s and do the following
Drop Carragher and play Agger alongside Kyri
Play Kelly at RB and Move Johnson to RW
    Drop Kuyt
Grow more ba**s and tell Joe Cole to play wide left, its where he made a name for himself both with England (goal against sweden in EC) and Chelsea

Play the following players in a 4-4-1-1

    Reina
Aurelio (when fit) or Mavinga/Robinson (anyone but Konchesky)
    Agger
    Kyri
    Kelly
    Cole (LM)
    Gerrard
    Meirales
    Johnson
Torres (behind babel, he has the ability)
Babel (at the mo, has more faith in his pace than torres does)

From what he has shown he is not the man to replace Torres. Babel is more capable for that than him.

  • Leo Says:

    I’d play Jova up front!!!
I however believe we can play better with a 3 man central defence of Agger, Skrtel and Carra with Glen Johnson at RW and Milan/Aurelio at LW.
This way we can better handle the aerial threats that have been bombarding our defense from “lesser” teams and force play out wide. The central defenders must be disciplined not to be pulled out wide and trust that back up will come in the form of the Defensive Midfielders/Wings.
Sitting in front of the back 4( or 5 defenders when under attack ) will be Meireles. I initially wanted Poulsen but have come to see that I’d rather have Jay Spearing over him. Joe Cole has to play in the hole behind Torres. Stevie G has to be in the centre of the park.
    ———————-Reina———————
    ——-Carra———Skrtel——–Agger——–
    -Glen—-Meireles———Spearing——Aurelio-
    ————-Stevie G——Joe Cole————-
    —————Torres/Jova———————-
    Above formation when Defending

    ———————Reina———————-
    ————Skrtel———-Agger—————
    —Carra————Meireles———–Aurelio–
    Glen——–Stevie G——Spearing/Jova———
    ————Torres/Jova—-Joe Cole————-

Above formation when attacking from RIGHT ( Glen turns offensive, provides width/ Aurelio turns defensive) .

    ——————–Reina———————
    ————Carra———Skrtel————–
    —Glen———–Spearing—————Agger
    ———-Meireles——–Stevie G————
    ——————Joe Cole————-Aurelio
    ——————Torres/Jova—————–
Above formation when attacking from LEFT- Glen turns defensive/Aurelio Offensive.

In this set up Torres or Jova when Torres is injured or Ngog will get much needed service from the wings AND the centre AND Agger gets time on the field where he can take the ball up park as well as play major roles in set pieces/ corners.
