Juventus linked with Reds right back

|

According to the Daily Mail, Juventus are apparently interested in buying Liverpool right back Glen Johnson. The Italian club are preparing to make a bid for the England international in the January transfer window if they fail in their offer for Ajax’s Dutch international right back Gregory van der Wiel. Johnson meanwhile believes that Liverpool will get out of their current predicament:

“Sometimes, even after a few games, people see you down there and are ready to pass out. But I can guarantee that at the end of the season we won’t be sitting there. You have to consider the fact that everybody else is dropping points. The so-called lesser teams are not so much less and it means that the league is becoming more competitive. I know people don’t really care about excuses but we’re not panicking. There is a lot more to come. Not many points separate us from fourth so a couple of good performances and good wins will put us in a decent position for the season ahead.”

Johnson was at fault for both goals against Blackpool at Anfield on Sunday, giving away a penalty and then keeping Luke Varney on side for the second goal. Johnson, 26, has been called up to Fabio Capello’s England squad for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro at Wembley on Tuesday night.

Hope this is true, but only if they pay £15 million-ish!!! Which they won’t!

What us fans of Liverpool would like to hear from Glen is that he has upped his work on defending properly! Then we will be more open to hearing him on other topics…

    GOOD RIDDANCE

I still feel that we’re wasting Johnson at right back, he would benefit us much more further forward. The top priority for Hodgson in January should be an actual, decent, defensive right back and a new left back. The use Johnson’s attacking tendencies further up the pitch.

Also, if Juve offered us what we paid for him, I wouldn’t actually grumble too much if we let him go.

Kelly at right back with Johnson on the wing, Kuyt upfront or at the San siro.

Good shout by Defiant red! Kelly is a rock solid RB and Johnson in front of him kills two birds with one stone, we strengthen our back line, plus get a natural wide man in midfield.

  • Jim Lynch says:

Johnson looks as bad as the rest of the team right now so it’s not just him – the whole defence are awful. I say yes, give him a go further up the pitch

Christopher Buchtmann isnt even in England anymore, if he was so amazing why did two clubs release him within 6months?
If you look at the Liverpool reserve team they are all young, apart from Babel midweek. So dont know what you are talking about, plus it would be better for them to go out of loan then play in reserves which is rubbish
I think we should sell Johnson, apparently Real are also linked with him, especially if we can get 18odd million for him.
