NESV could sue for “tens of millions” if deal not approved

|

It emerged last night that prospective Liverpool owner John W Henry will demand tens of millions of pounds if his deal is not rubber-stamped by the Liverpool board.

NESV insisted that it would defend its deal with the club and could sue for “tens of millions in damages” should the board decide to sell to another bidder. David Chivers QC, acting for NESV said.

“These could result in very substantial damages running into tens of millions of pounds.”

Hardly the sort of utterances we need to hear from our possible new owners, looking to sue the club before they even get to own it. It casts John Henry’s takeover in a bad light before they even begin to run our club.

Let us hope that they are not another hard-balled owner of the club who are out to make a fast buck on Liverpool FC. In any event, it is believed that the Liverpool board sanctioned the approval of their bid last week and that contracts may have been signed with NESV for the sale of the club.

starting to show there true colours f**k**g yanks!!!

  • King Kong says:

Just shows how much he loves the club. Something you’d die for yes?

  • Red Sky says:

No more bloomin Yanks….no consortiums…1 owner please. I like Lim, he says all the right things, is not borrowing any money, and is willing to give us a start in Jan with 40 mil.

  • Decky says:

Any business man that has a writen contract that was broken is going to sue. Have a feeling there might be 1 or 2 more bids with the vermin out of the way now though.

  • gaga says:

They’re all the same, as for lim and everyone else where are they finding the money for the stadium? Yet more huge debts loaded onto the club itself. BUST again

  • ste says:

Cant tarnish all Americans with the same brush just cos Hicks and Gillette are money grabbing SCUM.
Their offer was good, their background (seems) good, their offer was accepted and must be honoured and will be honoured tonight at the board meeting, they cant say anything now as the board has not yet convened, the last thing we need is a late last minute bid by some vultures, we learned that the hard way didnt we?.

  • David Mace says:

Pretty sure that meant he would sue Hicks/Gillet from what I read earlier as it was them who would prevent it happening.

  • Jack says:

If he sues it will come out of LFC not H+G’s own pockets. We will be forced to pay from our own revenue. If we can’t pay then it will placed as more debt. Definately not the type of people I want to see at our club. For Heaven’s sake please no more yanks.

Do your research before posting misleading articles like this. Yes, this quote has floated around. However, I’m not even sure it is official and where it came from. Even if it is true, you are repeating it out of context. This was in reference to Hicks and Gillette winning the case and deciding to sell elsewhere. Since this morning’s court case they have simply said that they have a legally binding sale. There have been no threats to sue at all.

So, please do your research before writing dramatic rubbish like this that is only worthy of the tabloids.

  • CDL says:

To be fair i think it shows that he really wants the club. I don’t know the details of the contract but wouldn’t you be a bit p****d off if you had a binding agreement to buy something such as a house or car etc, and then told “sorry we are selling it to someone who has offered more”.

  • CDL says:

Lets be hopeful that as H+G don’t have any say in selling the club other previously interested rich parties will come back with bids if NESV don’t have a binding agreement.

To those who like the sound of Lim i would be a bit concerned because he has a personal fortune of £1b. If he is using his own money (as he has said) to buy the club, build a stadium and invest 40m on players in January it doesn’t exactly leave a lot left over, so i couldn’t see him pumping millions upon millions into the club beyond this year. He also owns Man U bars in Asia and that is his total knowledge in football. At least NESV have had success with sports although again this doesn’t guarantee success in football.

  • gharib says:

plz board go for LIM even if yanks will go 4 compesation other wise our revenue will go to services their debts year after year which brings club melt down as H&G dameged our club

  • Templeton says:

I guess they have a right to sue for damages. Lawyer fees and other expenses needed to set up this deal that the LFC board agreed to before G and H put that injunction and now this stupid restraining order. G and H frikin suck!!!

  • Templeton says:

G and H want more than NESV is giving, but to be honest the club has devalued under their watch. Greedy cats. They don’t give a f*** about the club, and frankly I dont think they know what a f*** is to give it. Please let this be over
