Babel: The current manager “suits me better”

|

Liverpool forward Ryan Babel believes that Roy Hodgson’s style of management is helping his game and he would like to stay with the Reds beyond his contract which expires in two years time:

“It’s not up to me whether I see my future here, it’s up to Liverpool. This is my fourth season so it’s up to them what they do. I have one more year at the end of this season left on my contract and I would like to stay. It has been frustrating here as a player, but it’s not changed my loyalty towards the club. It’s more with the manager. The club is fantastic. But if a manager doesn’t like you it’s between you and the manager. The club is amazing and there are still a lot of fans who believe in me so that gives me a goal. They [Hodgson and Benitez] are different. The current manager does things differently, and maybe that suits me better. When he arrived he was closer with the team, talking to players, and maybe that gives the players a boost to respond better. He’s more involved day to day with the players. He does things differently. Under Rafa the assistant managers took a lot of responsibility but that is different now. I hope this country hasn’t seen the best of me yet. The maximum number of games I’ve played in a row is four and it’s difficult for any player to find consistency if you’re not playing every week.”

Babel started against FC Utrecht mid week in the Europa League.

Too bad for him that this time next month that Whopper Hodgson have been sacked and hopefully you will have been sold or on loan at FC Twente.

Either that or we deserve all we get.

Yes he’s happy with Roy, no pressure turn up be just a bit less than mediocre go home job done

I like Babel and I think he’s a really exciting player who arrived here with huge potential but what is he on about here?

Why are you happy with Hodgson when he’s giving you five minutes match time every month? He sees you as a reserve player and only plays you when Torres isn’t available and in the Europa League. How can you say you like this manager when right from the start he makes you warm the bench? How many minutes have you played this season? The fact that Ngog is starting instead of you pretty much shows that Roy has no faith in you.

I hope you get a chance here cause I think you’re a very talented player but it makes no sense when you come out and say that this manager suits you better when he hasn’t even given you a chance in the team.

We should give him another contract, maybe a 2 year extension and use him as Torres under study..

Its nice to know someone is sasying somethign nice about the manager for a change also.

  • Jay Wright says:

I don’t understand how he maintains any feelings for the club after the way his career has been destroyed here.

I also don’t understand how he managed to play more frequently under Rafa than he has under Hodgson (ONE league start all year!?), even while the regular starters have disappointed so consistently, yet he still hasn’t seen fit to unleash a war of the words

when he is sacked in january, you can follow him. this “suits us better”

Even the four games were not for the whole 90 miniutes! Give Babel a prolonged run in the team as his pace and skill are great. He lacks confidence and doesn’t always read the game too well but that will come. Why waste money signing injury prone Carlton Cole who barely ever manages 10 goals a season!!!! Babel all the way. IF not up font play him on the right wing as an Arron Lennon type. I dont think he or Jovanovic are employed to their potential as the current manager and Raffa always tell wingers to cut inside. With the pace of Jovanovic and Babel we should play with more widthe and open teams up. Just have Lucas sitting deep Meireles pushing further up and Gerrard in a free role supporting Torres.
    Reina
    Johnson Carragher Agger Aurellio

    Babel Meireles Lucas Jovanovic

    Gerrard Torres

He is a below average player who is extremely inconsistant and has very poor control and touch.
He is not of the quality we require and nor do i think he ever will be.
He has had plenty of oportunity to show his worth but has failed miserably.
His first touch is shocking and loses possesion far too often, it hurts me to watch him play its just so frustrating.
I think we need to take whatever we can get for him before his contract runs down.

    • Eric says:

“He has had plenty of opportunity to show his worth but has failed miserably”. You mean giving him five minutes of game time every month? You call this giving him a chance? How many Premier League starts has he made this season and how many minutes of football has he played? Think before you speak mate.

      • Frank says:

Eric, he is happy with what Roy has given him so surely Turks is right!!! Rafa gave him far more game time but he wasn’t a happy bunny then was he? Maybe Rafa demands results from his players !!!!!!

  • cedl4jc says:

I think he is extremely intelligent and capable. but liverpool in the past decade have been playing a game more designed to absorp pressure then attack than what i favour more, attack and defend in numbers. that is what would suit babel. I wish he could get his desire to strike/I got so much faith in him.
