We know Henry & Werner, but who are Ginsberg, Vinik and Gordon?

|

Jeffrey Vinik – Another investment banker, Vinik graduated from Duke’s School of Engineering with a BSC degree in 1981. He did however receive an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1985. He made his name as a fund manager and was best known for managing the Fidelity Magellan mutual fund in the early 1990s for four years. In the mid 90s, he started his own highly successful hedge fund called Vinik Asset Management and by the year 2000, he had returned investors a staggering $4.2billion in just four years, making investors a reported 94% return in his first 11 months in the job while continuing to make returns of over 50% in the following three years. Despite his success, he returned to making investments for himself at the turn of the decade. Alongside John W Henry and Tom Werner at NESV, he became a minority owner of the Boston Red Sox and also now has a less than 10% share in Liverpool Football Club. He also bought a Sports team on his own earlier in the year, purchasing the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey team.

Michael Gordon (Pictured on right)– There is less known about Michael Gordon and many a google search has come up with only a few pieces of info. He is a minority share holder in NESV and is a close associate of Tom Werner. He is not on the board of United Kingdom Sports Ventures.
