It has been no secret that the club’s new owners were to be in Liverpool for the Merseyside Derby. Yesterday Tom Werner gave several interviews, most notably with the official website and the BBC’s Dan Roan, and it is safe to say that he was very impressive in both instances.
It is well publicised that FSG want to move the club forward but doing this in the right way, which suits us perfectly as a football club. Unlike our previous set of owners who were more than happy to promise the world to us as fans, Mr Werner signalled the owner’s intentions but doing it in a subtle fashion and refused to promise anything.
From a business point of view, the refusal to make promises or let too much go over upcoming decisions is very important. Despite taking the subtle approach to ownership, they are clearly working very hard staying in Liverpool to discuss club matters such as the stadium situation as well as players. It is rumoured that John Henry went to speak personally to a certain player’s agent.
It is obviously important that they understand progression is very important but the main thing I took from yesterday’s interviews was that Tom Werner oozes class, during his BBC interview their was no elaborate set ups such as Liverpool mugs or a scarf hanging from a seat in the background which was previously the case under Hicks and Gillett.
This is the main thing we as a football club need, some one who actually understands our traditions and is willing to move forward in the right way and I firmly believe we have this. In the long term, Henry and Werner will be judged on their actions but since taking over they have left nothing but good impressions.

I agree – but actions speak louder than words. We urgently need:
1 striker
1 Left sided midfield play
1 left back
1 Def Mid
So far I have been very impressed with FSG – but the time for talking is over, its time to put their money where their mouth is
FSG are professional, capable and seem to be taking the long view, with all options being considered in terms of the benifit to club, not the “quick fix, get rich” attitude of H&G.
At last we seem to have owners who understand and get the Liverpool way of doing things. With King Kenny uniting the dressing room, fans and board, we are already beginning see the return of our traditions.
The Liverbird is rising from the flames and will be stronger than ever.
