Goals, Goals, Goals. Please pay the £15m Mr Henry!

|

Luis Suarez is the name on every ones lips in the papers and on the street. The Uruguay International is a free-scoring footballer playing with Ajax in Holland. Damien Comolli has watched him on several occasions and I hope John W Henry spends the £15 million needed to buy him for Liverpool as he would be a great strike partner for Torres. Here is some footage of him below:

I’d love him at Liverpool. But since Dzeko cost 35+million,Bent cost 24 million,we cant actually hope that we can sign LUIS SUAREZ with only 15 million.i’d pay 25-30 million for Suarez.we are talking for one of the best strikers in the world but obviously john henry thinks he is smarter..lool.pay 25 million or 20 plus babel would do.Also Coentrao spoke highly of Liverpool and i would also love him at Liverpool. And Van Bommel would be a great capture as he is WAY better than Poulsen and Lucas.

    Johnson Carragher Agger Coentrao

Manchester City can’t be used as the yardstick for measuring what’s sensible business. This is a club who pay €20 million plus for squad players. Football clubs can no longer be run that way. I for one wouldn’t want my club adapting that approach when it comes to building a squad. Gradual additions on a sound financial footing is surely the most comprehensive approach to building a strong squad. If Ajax want to play hard-ball and look for the kind of money Man City would be likely to pay well then they may keep the player. I’d rather see the ‘absurd’ amount of money they’re seeking being invested into the youth infrastructure at the club. The days of us being held to ransom over players are over. I’d be disappointed to see the club make an over-inflated ‘marquee’ signing. Besides, I feel Fernando works better as a lone frontman and it’d be more beneficial to get someone in with width and pace in the squad to provide him some better service than the scraps he’s had to live off of late. Leave the fantasy football signings to Russian and Arab oligarchs.

I’m in two minds about Suarez to be honest. Good goalscorer for sure, would almost certainly do the biz in the EPL. Probably get him for £20m despite his manager’s insistence that he’d only sell him ‘for an absurd amount of money’.

But it is also still fresh in my mind the way he behaved in the World Cup, cheating and then celebrating on the touch line the ill-gotten result of his cheating.

Oh I know, this is the murky world of football, they all have history, blah blah blah. But do we as Reds fans really feel that sportsmanlike conduct is now a thing of the past and we shuldn’t expect or desire it anymore? Maybe so, but wouldn’t that be a truly sad day in sporting history when we give up on expecting any sort of moral or ethical behaviour?

Oh well, if he comes, scores a bundle and keeps his nose clean I am happy to be convinced :o)

With all due respect mate, if it was england v germany and rooney had done what suarez had, he’d be a national hero, instead of a little pug-faced granny-shagger. Celebrating when you’ve just helped your country to a world cup semi-final is compulsory, regardless of how you got there. Any means neccessary.

Red barron do you not remember jocky hanson handling the ball on the goal line in the fa cup final you didnt hear any of us shout about sportsmanship them mate we had the fa cup . so what ever suarez has done before he came to the reds that not our problem if he comes and scores goals for lfc i dont care what he did or does mate regaining our position as number one is the number one priority end of

Would take Lukaku anyday over Suárez, he (Súarez) is a proven goalscorer in Holland, but so was Kuyt, Kezman and Afonso Alves, WAKE UP, people. No striker in the dutch top division should be considered a world class-player, because the defences in the Eredivisie is the worst I have seen in European top football. Even polish defences are way better, no kidding.

Suárez is a trap, he lacks lots of pace, he has problems with his coolness (which was shown when he bit one of the opposing players when he was frustrated) and he doesn’t have an acceptable work-rate for a striker in the PL.

Lukaku, however, have shown much more promising things in a lot younger age (6 1/2 years, to be precise), as the belgian defences are often very well organized. You could draw comparisons between the Belgian Jupiler League the French Ligue 1 defences.

And with a 17-year old averaging a goal per 1.9 game in one of Europes best organized leagues, against a 24-year old (he isn’t 24 right now, but will be in 5 days) who is averaging a goal in every 1.3 game in one of the worst defensive leagues in Europe, who would you pick. Both are equally realistic for Liverpool to get, if they put maximum effort in to getting them.

  • albey says:

He plays in the belgium league thats worst than the blue square league ( best organised league ye what ever ha ha ) so we can buy a 17 yr old and play him in the first team if thats the case why dont we play suso the 18yr old he is equally as good going to be a top top player but cant see kenny doing that suarez is ideal to walk in to the first team now and hold his own.

  • Eric says:

Suarez is the ideal player to partner Torres up front. Some people are suggesting that the Eredivisie is poor quality but he’s proved himself at the top level during the World Cup, scoring 3 goals. His goalscoring record at Ajax pretty much speaks for itself and he’s easily worth 25-30 mil. Darren Bent cost Villa 24 mil and Suarez is no worse than him. Not signing a world class striker to take the burden off Torres in 3 transfer windows is becoming a joke and a top draw striker these days will cost 20-30 mil. 10 strikers are players like Carlton Cole and surely we don’t want those players at our club. Luis Suarez is a prolific striker and he will no doubt be a great addition to the squad. I really do hope NESV bring him to Anfield, even if it’s going to cost 25 mil.

  • Fidel says:

What Suarez did in the world cup was inexcusable, but we all know he can score goals and together with Torres they would form a deadly strike partnership. I would love to see him at liverpool, but he should leave Reina to handle the ball with his hands
