King Kenny praises . . . Poulsen?

|

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish took time out to praise some of the positive aspects from the 2-1 defeat to Blackpool on Wednesday night. As well as praising the goal from Fernando Torres, he also singled out another player who has been much criticised since his arrival in the summer:

“It was a great goal from Fernando and he was a real positive. As was Kelly at right-back and Daniel Agger at centre-back, who felt unwell before the game, but went right through it. And Christian Poulsen did well in the middle, passing and moving.”

King Kenny also took the time to look forward to the Merseyside Derby on Sunday:

“I’m looking forward to the game, obviously there’s a big story about coming back to Anfield for the first game which is going to be fantastic for myself. It will probably be very emotional as well to stand in front of the punters. But it’s more important how we go about it with the players and how they adapt as well. Sunday is a day that I’ll remember for a long, long time, going back in.”

This week it is former Liverpool WAG Jennifer Ellison!

The dumbest kid in class needs the most encouragement too…

  • David says:

I thought he played alright, can’t say the same for Jova unfortunately

Kenny has the right idea – restore the confidence at every oportunity. Naturally many fans jump in and help to negate these attempts by doing the opposite.
All LFC players now need supporting in their attempt to restore confidence despite idiot fans still trying to bring the team down..

He didn’t have a bad game at all. People claim that he is one-pace. Well, Didi Hamann was one-paced, too. I don’t want to compare them two, but Poulsen has 80 or so international caps so he probably can’t be as bad as some people try to make him. Maybe he needs some time to adapt to the pace and style of play in the Prem, like many imports before him and many after him.

I agree, he made a couple of mistakes in the beginning but was one of our better players thereafter. I’d go as far as to say it was his best game in a red shirt.

Okay I’m not a fan of Poulsen but to be honest, he’s not as bad as some fans suggest. 80 odd caps for Denmark and playing for top European clubs like Seville, Schalke and Juventus means something. He’s 30 and his best years are behind him but he’s an effective defensive midfielder. He played well against Manutd in the League and I think he just needs some confidence and under Kenny Dalglish maybe we can see the best of him.
