Poulsen & Gerrard Start and £200 Free Bets at BET365

A home game against Fulham should be an ideal follow up to the 3-0 victory against Wolves at Molineux for Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool, especially with the return of Steven Gerrard (Team News Below). Fulham themselves have had an upsurge in form in recent weekis but with Liverpool’s record at home still pretty decent this season, despite the Reds poor first half of the season, everything points to a second consecutive win for the Merseyside club.

Bet on Liverpool to win 2-0 at 11/2 with Bet 365

One of the fundamental differences that the sacking of Roy Hodgson and the appointment of King Kenny has made is that every Liverpool fan is now united behind the team and the manager. Issues around the ownership and around the futures of both Benitez and Hodgson in the past have distracted the Anfield faithful from giving the amount of support that is legendary and I think Reds fans would admit that this has had a bearing on the performances of the team at Anfield on occasion. Certainly when a team’s confidence is fragile or there is increasing doubts in the player’s minds, a crowd can definitely make all the difference and get the team playing with a modicum of belief and self-assurance. With Kenny back in the dug-out and the team playing more expansively on the pitch than it has done in many years, the players will feel a very different aura coming onto the Anfield pitch to the one they have been used to in the last 18 months or so.

Teams feed off the crowd but in the same instance, a crowd has to feed off the team’s style of play on the pitch, and the style of football which has characterised the last six months especially has been particularly unappealing. If Roy Hodgson had adapted his style quite extensively to adopt a high pressing game, with greater freedom in attack and variety of play, he would have certainly won more fans around to his cause, but as it was, the crowd were subjected to one limp performance after another. Despite football being said to be a “results business,” it also has to be entertainment as the “punters,” as King Kenny likes to say, pay their hard earned money to watch a team perform to the best of their ability.

Bet on Raul Meireles to score in his third consecutive match and Liverpool to win 3-0 at 20/1

Under Kenny and Steve Clarke, the Wolves display was a step in the right direction, but it is not something to get carried away with. It was Kenny’s first victory and if we are to climb the table to finish in the top 6, consistency is key, and the continuation of the style of play at Molineux is essential if we are to get a convincing victory against Fulham. Mark Hughes’s side are coming off a good victory at home against Stoke and will definitely be a threat on the counter-attack and the improved defensive display seen against Wolves must be carried into tonight’s match. I am hoping for a comfortable win and a continuation in the Reds resurgence in form.
