A 2-0 win for the Reds tomorrow night? Sparta Match Preview

|

After a lack lustre draw in Prague last week, the 2nd leg is set for Thursday night when Sparta visit Anfield. Liverpool failed to create any clear cut chances and Reina made a couple of good saves to keep the score 0-0. The talk of the town was teenage sensation Raheem Sterling with everyone anticipating at least a cameo from him at the tender age of 16 years and 75 odd days. However, King Kenny decided not to showcase the teenage prodigy and he was not even on the bench. In hindsight, it may have been a good idea to give the youngster 15 minutes to have a go at their defence but King Kenny decided a draw away is not a bad result, which in the case of Liverpool , history is testament to that.

If Sparta Prague have done their homework, they will know that Anfield is a fortress , for visiting European teams. The Kop is the extra man and Liverpool attack with venom at the Kop end.  It will be interesting to see what kind of formation King Kenny will adopt. Luiz Suarez is unavailable as he is cup tied so the indefatigable Kuyt should start upfront with the man with the golden touch Meireles given the free role behind him.

Bet on Raul Meireles to score the first goal at 11/2 with BET 365. CLICK Here or below:

Andy Carroll has resumed light training but is far from match fit. I would like to see Joe Cole start to get his confidence back. I am hoping he could play on the left midfield instead of Maxi as he is creative, innovative and reads the game well. Unfortunately for him his career at Liverpool got off to a bad start but this is the kind of game at home that could reignite his spark. I am predicting a 2-0win for Liverpool. What are you predicting?

  • Kenny says:

It would be great if Dalglish had the guts to play some of the young players like Coady against Sparta but I know that he will not have the imagination to do so.

  • Mike says:

just hope Cole gets a start on the left. Kuyt up front Meireles just behind him. Maybe play 3 5 2 to get some width.

  • Kenny says:

What is this fascination with Joe Cole?

  • Pedro says:

I hope Pacheco gets the nod. Would want to see him play behind Kuyt. Meireles playing as CMF and Lucas playing DMF.

    • Blindside says:

Seems they are never going to play Pacheco. He would be well advised to find another team that has some hope for him…

My line up for tomorrow’s game:
    Reina
    Kelly Carragher Skrtel Agger
    Johnson Lucas Maxi J.Cole
    Meireles
    Kuyt
3-0 win with Kuyt,Meireles and Joe Cole on the scoresheet..YNWA
also the fascination to Joe Cole is because he is the only good winger we currently have..Maxi,Jovanovic are average at best and Kuyt is a STRIKER!!also plz dont play Ngog..another one of GREAT Benitez’s transfers like Dossena,Degen,Aquilani,…etc..YNWA

  • Blindside says:

I would just like somebody to tell me who is going to score goals for us? We seem to be toothless!

  • Eric says:

We have a squad that is more than capable of beating rubbish like Sparta Prague. Gerrard and Agger should not be risked while Cole and Pacheco should be given a chance. My team for the game:
    Reina
    Kelly Carra Skrtel Johnson
    Pacheco Poulsen Lucas Cole
    Raul
    Kuyt

Bench: Gulacsi Soto Wilson Coady Maxi Jova Ngog

  • Jay Wright says:

    Reina
    Kelly-Carragher-Wilson-Johnson
    Meireles-Lucas-Cole
    Pacheco-Ngog-Jovanovich

Subs: Jones, Kygiakos, Skrtel, Poulsen Coady, Suso, Kuyt

Kelly and Johnson having to continue out of position due to Aurelio being unavailable and the absence of Gerrard, Suarez & Carroll leaving the bench short of attacking options.

I’d still rather stick Suso on the bench and give Pacheco the start than continue to waste time waiting for Kuyt and Maxi to show us something though!
