A Team of Carraghers WANTED For Liverpool Marathon

|

Jamie Carragher’s charity The 23 Foundation has been chosen as one of the four official charities to benefit from the 2011 Run Liverpool Marathon on Sunday 9th October 2011. The Liverpool Marathon returns to the city after nearly 20 years and is expected to attract around 12,000 local, national and international runners.

The Foundation was set up by the Reds’ vice captain to provide support and funding in a bid to allow youngsters the opportunity to reach their potential and overcome barriers through sporting activity and teamwork. Now the search is on for 300 runners to create a ‘Team of Carraghers’ to raise much needed funds for the local community. Cathy Elliott, Chief Executive of 23 Foundation commented:

“We’re thrilled to be involved with the Run Liverpool Marathon. The funds raised will be used to provide young people with fantastic opportunities which will make a real difference to them. People can find out how to apply to be in the team and get training tips through our website: www.cfmerseyside.org.uk

National charities Scope, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation are also set to benefit from the marathon. Race Director, Alan Rothwell, said:

“The demand and interest in the RunLiverpool Marathon has been huge so we have decided to support four official charities and are looking forward to working with all of them to encourage entrants to run for their causes and raise as much money as possible.”

Entries for the 2011 Run Liverpool Marathon on behalf of the 23 Foundation officially opened on February 28th 2011.
