Rumour Mill: Reds lining up DOUBLE Starlet swoop?

|

According to the Daily Mirror and Daily Mail, Liverpool are reportedly preparing bids for Crystal Palace pair Jon Williams and Wilfried Zaha as part of a drive to find England’s best young talent. It was reported yesterday that Zaha had recently been scouted by the Reds, and the player has already been touted as one of the most promising players outside of the Premier League after recently being called up by the England U19s. Williams meanwhile has not played a first team game for Palace yet but the 17 year old has already featured for Wales U21s and his reputation has grown over the last year.

  • Kenny says:

Is this Dalglish’s idea? Is it Comolli’s? Is it Borrell’s? Are the above 3 people united in their plans about the youth system?

  • Kenny says:

If the manager has no interest in bringing through the youth players then the youth system is money down the drain?

  • Eric says:

The youth system over the past decade or so has been absolutely rubbish. It was only Rafa who tried to change something and improve the system but both Roy and Kenny are old fashioned managers who are not interested in bringing through youth players. Look at rubbish British players like Stephen Darby, Jay Spearing, and Steve Iriwn. All these guys will probably be playing in League One in two years time as they’re so bad they won’t even be able to cut it in the Championship. The only one who will make it is Martin Kelly as proved by his performances thus far but the rest are all rubbish. How many players from the youth system have actually made it to the first team in recent years? None is the answer. Even prospects such as Damien Plessis, Kristian Nemeth and Dalla Valle have not made it, showing how poor the youth system is. Also, with an old fashioned manager like Kenny Dalglish, Chris Mavinga and Dani Pacheco will not get a chance. FSG should do seriously do something about this cause we’re going nowhere with this pathetic youth system.
