Liverpool are targeting Tottenham Aaron Lennon, according to the People. Director of Football Damien Comolli will look to complete a deal for Aston Villa’s Stewart Downing before going after Lennon. The paper believes that Comolli is aware that the winger may fancy a move back up North (he moved from Leeds at 16) and that Spurs would be willing to sell. Comolli brought Lennon to Spurs in his spell at Spurs back in 2005, and is aware Kenny Dalglish is looking to add pace and width to his team. Dalglish is said to be equally keen to sign the 24 year old.

Wouldnt mind Aaron Lennon coming up to LFC but not for the £15m quoted. He isnt that good! Why not save money and forget Downing (£18m) and bring in Mata if he is interested for £18m and then spend the extra £15m on a striker like Benzema. Its easy for us to say as there are many factors involved but it would be nice to see some real quality back at LFC.

Yeah that’s what I think! People talk about his crossing, but I think he improved? As I remember it he was told to slow down and be more composed as he crosses and it worked better (maybe not perfected yet, but can be worked upon). Plus his pace can open any team up and with Suarez breaking we’d scare the living daylights out of any defence!!
Lennon is a world class striker..if you remember what he did to us!!! … He has the pace to take on anyone.. Mata is good fir the spanish league but for the premier league we dont know.. All we know is that lennon has the wuality for this league.. We should SIGN HIM and enough centre mids.. Too many of them..!!!

I’m sure he’ll be a star here, but he better be one heck of a star for that price tag! All these LW for £20m and I agree with you that we can move a player and cash for Arda Turan and Ryad B! But Lennon for 20 million quid! Let’s hope this is news because I’m already worried about the £16m paid for Henderson, now Lennon at that price! The world has gone mad. You know I couldn’t care less who we get, I can’t wait for the season to start. I believe that we will be a better team this coming season than last. With Steve coming back from injury and our kids are doing so good. I want to see KK promote Rahim Sterling, Dani Pacheco and some more young kids to first team against the newly promoted teams. Why spend all the $$$ on young English kids when we ourself have so many young quality English kids
in the last world cup (2010) Liverpool had more players representing their clubs than most teams (i think only barca and real had more), this shows we have a good squad of players as it is. forget what hodgson said in the “I wont win anything with this lot” speech. Then that squad aquired 3 more world class players over the season. we all know how good suarez nd raul r but everyone seems to forget how good carroll is, he was a menace to every side he played against for newcastle and us last season, to get it right for him we need 1 or 2 wingers who can cross the ball perfectly. Kuyt is not one of these, he will work his ass off for us but hes not a class winger, downing is, he can put a ball on a penny on the other side of the box, this mixed with charlie adam passing ability (hes as good as most) leaves (depending on the side downing will play) 1 spot in midfield, unless your willing to drop gerrard that is, why arent people shouting for glen johnson to get a run out on the wing with flanno behind him, this would be one less player we need. But this also means raul wont be getting many games, probably this and the fact Mr henry nd co. dont think he has excelled are the reason he WANTS to leave. He played well for half a season nd for an attacking midfielder only scoring 5 goals and 6 assists, gerrard had 8 goals nd 5 assists nd was out most of the season, suarez only arrived in jan and had 4 goals and 5 assists, raul not looking like the EXCEPTIONAL player expected. Last season adam had 12 goals and 5 assists from midfield in a side which were relagated, personally i dont see where the argument of keep raul dont buy adam comes from. Adam playing with big players around him will only improve and with being 3 years younger than raul we he will.
My personal opinion is that most fans seemt to think if the player is british then hes s@@@e and not worth the money but good british players come at a premium, nothing we can do about that but i bet if either player come and ahve a fantastic 1st couple of games all will be forgotten and they will be the best thing since slice bread.
Roll on July first tho hopefully we will see a lot more movement.
Ricky I think most of what you have said is spot on mate just not sure about Downing when I have seen him on tv he drifts in and out the game to much for me so I have resevations on and the johnson point we have been saying that since rafa mate and you are spot on he and flano together would be a good pairing I also think Martin Kelly should now be schooled as carra replacement with these two moves it would save LFCmillions in transfer fees that could be spent wiser .but nice one Ricky
