The Daily Mail is reporting that there are two front runners to replace Sammy Lee in Liverpool’s coaching staff. Although there has been no official confirmation from Liverpool about Lee’s departure, reliable sources at BBC Radio Merseyside and the Liverpool Echo believe Lee is no longer employed by the club. The two names the Mail puts forward are former player Gary McAllister and former Chelsea coach Paul Clement, who departed the Blues after the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas as manager and knows Steve Clarke very well after working at the London club together.

Gary Mc Allister is one rare oldest player to be signed by Liverpool for a short period and he has been influential on Liverpool’s game under Gerard Houiller. He didn’t played 90 min but when he got on the pitch he changed the players mentality and they played better. More than once he managed to win the game.He had that charisma just like Steven Gerrard. If he comes for coaching he would probably boost up players morale and help them to play better.
Personally, I would rather avoid Gary McAllister. The reason the Earth and the Heavens weren’t moved to keep hold of Sammy Lee is that he is effectively just a highly-paid cheerleader and now that Kenny is manager, we really don’t need a motivator, as we have the best one.
Of the two mentioned, I would rather take Clement on board. He has great experience from his time at Chelsea of winning and has worked with Steve Clarke before. Also, let’s get Paco back! haha
I agree but i just think we need something different the type of different Steve Clarke has brought to the club so I think Clement will carry on that and go in a different direction to the old we were use to. That’s why Lee has gone and this is why we shouldn’t get Mcalister even tho i think of him as a legend……YNWA
