Will it make any difference to our apparent transfer strategy?

The prevailing wisdom among Reds fans is that Liverpool’s transfer activity will suddenly increase significantly after the transfer window on the continent opens up on July 1st.

To an extent this is wishful thinking, in my opinion, because although the Reds may have agreements in place with players we do not know about, the lack of any real talk about the club bringing in foreign players is notable.

For those that say Liverpool can only negotiate with foreign clubs after the transfer window has opened is a fallacy as can be aptly be demonstrated by Manchester United’s negotiations with Atletico Madrid over David De Gea, who was pictured arriving to have a medical at Old Trafford yesterday.

Certainly this doesn’t mean the Reds interest in foreign players will not increase after the European window opens, but I feel that many Reds fans will be left disappointed once there is not much greater talk about us tying up deals for the likes of Juan Mata, Arda Turan or Kun Aguero.

For now, it looks certain the Reds will look to tie up deals for the likes of Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam. Both deals seemed to be nearer completion than at any stage in the last few weeks with the Independent declaring that both deals are imminent.

The only reason why a lot of fans still has little hope left for this transfer window is because of a single fact, which is ”IN KENNY WE TRUST”.
If it was to be anoda manager, I wonder what the fans will be doing by now. Lets hope what happened in newcastle under KK does’nt repeat itself.

I thought with Comolli in place, transfers would be completed more quickly in order to aid players settling in for the new season but we still seem to be dragging our heels.

so both deals are imminent? closer than at any stage? so how come karl oysten told sky sports news today that blackpool have had NO offers for adam and i haven’t seen the ticker line state that downing has handed in the ‘imminent’ transfer request? it also appears that we’ve missed out on yet another of KK’s ‘top targets’ ie wickham! and likely to miss out on another ‘top target’ ie dann, not to mention marveaux, jones and young!
how are we ever gonna compete with the ‘big boys’ when we can’t (or WON’T) compete with the sunderlands and stokes? or maybe damien has a cunning plan to wait until conor scores half a dozen goals and then snap him up for a paltry £40m on jan 31st !!!!

Comolli is starting to come under real pressure, If we lose Adam and Downing he will look a fool. He is paid lots of money to get this right, If we miss our targets we won’t get into the top 4. I have real concerns about his attitude in negotiations as i hear he is very arrogant and rude!!!!!

Man U are running rings around us – we talk a lot but Commolli is going to be a disaster

  • Terror says:

Liverpool has made the media appear like a clueless shower of liars.(which is true anyway) But the amount of rubbish they have spouted since the market opened is breathtaking!

  • mikael says:

at this rate, comolli will become the biggest mistake in the history of LFC. why do we need a director of football in the first place. cant the head scout and MD do the negotiating? besides, the players we’re being linked with do not inspire confidence. i fear bringing in comolli will be FSG’s undoing. verdict, sack him now and hand negotiations to ian ayre. finito!

I will wait to the end of the window before making judgements but if they are only going to buy EPL players they are fools.

  • michael says:

gonna wait till we see who we get. the media hav’nt got a clue in fact the only people in the know are kenny & commolli but it’s better hearing nothing then hearing tom hicks lie’s. in kenny we trust.
P.S. i guess if our activity is a little slow maybe its because their still not sure of their budget with so many players needing to be shipped out.

Doing things the right way takes time. The Liverpool way has always been behind closed doors so just because we and the media don’t know s… doesn’t mean that things are not going to happen. Everything round the club is positive right now and the fans better not be starting fires already. Why take jabs at players and staff when the big transfer window is not even open. Get behind the team… that why we are called supporters..

    Many things are going on;

Now i here that there is huge probblems behined the closed doors at our beloved club, that i can tell you is not the case.

I then here that fsg have not got the funds, let me tell you from my time in Boston and my family living there and knowing the owners and they way they soend and go about winning let me make this clear – this is not true, they will spend if their is massive value and if it creates good press and gets liverpool so kudos.

The next thing thats is in the news, on sky sports, is that sammy has left the lub, he is no longer ass manager, it is true that he is no longer assistant manager,m but i cant know for sure of he has left the club.

Clarke has been given the assistant managers position, because chelsea came at liverpool with a lot of cash to take carker back to london to work in their new set up as AVB assistant manager.

Clarke wants to stay at liverpool and did do while signing a 3 year deal at the end of last season, however it wasnt a clear as that, steve clarke wanted to know what the future was going to be like and the chances to move up and up at liverpool, so clarke has been given more power at the club.
