This Friday saw the beginning of the 43rd in where a host of the world’s finest footballers will be on display and no doubt the eyes of Europe’s top clubs will be on them.

The tournament will include some the world’s most high profile players such as, and and will also be a platform for some of the most wanted men in football to show just why some of the biggest clubs in Europe are chasing their signatures.

Alexis Sanchez of Chile, of Brazil, and of Argentina have all been linked with high profile moves to the likes of , , and . They will see this tournament as an ideal chance to attract more suitors and demonstrate the vast amount of talent they possess.

Sanchez for example has been told by Chile that he can leave their training camp in the build up to the Championship in order to complete his much anticipated move to Barcelona for around £35m. Neymars club Santos recently declared that five major European clubs have met the £40m buy-out clause in his contract and he too could soon be on the move.

Javier Pastores club Palermo have announced in the past few days a number of top clubs have shown an interest in him before club President Maurizio Zamparini declared one club in particular have tabled a £45m bid.

Between them these three players alone could cost a combined £130m for what is relatively unproven talent in the eyes of many fans, though the Copa America is the ideal platform for them to justify such high transfer fees and prove there is foundation to the hype.

Argentinean striker is another player being linked with a big money move on the eve of the competition, with Juventus reportedly ready to spend £32m in order secure his services in Serie A.

yeh it should be a great opportunity to scout players, but of course by the looks of things dalglish and comolli would rather shop from aston villa, birmingham and blackpool :( while we watch scouts from all the other top EPL clubs head to argentina to scout some of the worlds best players… ABSOLUTELY SICKENED!!!!!!!! :( :( :(

It may sound like that but we are actually following Arsenal’s policy buy young tallented prospects and watch their price rise. Arsenal fans now want proven world class talent instead of rising young hopefulls tho. The new owners would rather pay over the odds on young prospects for the future then world class players for the here n now……YNWA

Cannot bear the pain of another 20 years without getting back what belonged to us.

Zahid – too right , & look where it has got Arsenal!
The owners want young players, ok they should put their money where their mouth is , get Aguero at 22 he fits their policy (*is still cheaper than Henderson).

We might as well support Blackpool if we are to become a feeder club, then the new owners will count their 1/2 pennies.

No need to push the panic button as yet. But what I can’t understand is that why we have still not got shot of the deadwood, Cole,Juve,Knocheski,Ngog,ElZhar,Degen,Insua, Poulsen, kyriacos etc etc- Surely their sale would raise in excess of £35mil to buy Aguero.
Look at the lift Suarez’s arrival gave to the whole club and our results on the pitch ( picking the match against manure as just one example)- Aguero’ arrival would do the same. Once he comes hopefully others like Mata & Hazard might follow. So by the time we get back into the CL they will have fully gelled in.
The pre- season training is starting on Monday, IS DC ALSO REPORTING BACK FOR DUTY?? He seems to have been absent by silence.
I truly believe we have a team to get back into the CL, but surely our aspirations must be to win the PL & rival Barca & R Madrid. I know where I would spend my money if I had a choice between Henderson ( £20mil) & (Aguero £35mil). The 6+5, or 5+6 proposed ruling may never kick in and in any case we already have a number of home grown players coming through at our disposal.

Lets just hope we have a fully fit squad with the deadwood shipped to other pastures.

In order for LFC to be able to afford any more signings, Comolli and Dalglish need to get off their backsides and get all the dross out of the club and sending them out on loan is not the solution. If the rubbish like Cole,Jovanovic,Poulsen,Konchesky and Ngog keep stalling on leaving, then FSG should give them all free transfers. It is ridiculous that the club are going to waste yet more money signing goalies to sit on the bench. It is also ludicrous signing yet another leftback especially one as useless as Clichy. The club already have Kelly,Johnson,Flanagan,Mavinga,Robinson and Aurelio who can all rotate to fill that position in the paltry 38 games in the league next season. The League Cup and FA Cup are totally irrelevant next season. LFC will not get a better chance to win the Premier League next season. Arsenal and Spurs will struggle to finish in the top four. City will be distracted by the Champions League. Villas Boas is talented but the Chelsea squad has huge weaknesses. United will move heaven and earth to get back to the Champions League final knowing that Barcelona as the holders will not retain the trophy.

@Kenny: so u seriously think we dont need a left back? so bcos Robinson made wat??… 4… 5? decent performancs last season, u think he is ready to make d jump. if we rush him like we did Insua, we risk hamperin his progress. we only have 1 good leftback in Aurelio who is old and very unfit.
the very obvious places that need reinforcements are leftback and the flanks amidst other places.
    Mavinga who???

I repeat that it is ridiculous to be signing yet another substandard leftback when the club already has more then enough players to fill that role for the paltry 38 games next season. Fans need to stop pressurizing the club to waste money on positions like leftback for this coming season. All this does is to create problems down the line when that leftback flops but is on a huge wage that no other club would be stupid enough to pay him and LFC take another financial hit. Chris Mavinga has been on loan to Genk in Belgium, he deserves a chance too this coming season. If any fan thinks that paying the likes of Clichy 90 grand a week is good business for LFC then they are seriously deluded. LFC have had some disastrous leftbacks in the last few years such as Dossena and Konchesky. Insua was an average player to begin with, he never had a clue defensively and was never fast enough.
