You may laugh Man U Fans, but our time is fast approaching

Being a Liverpool supporter is like being a romantic. Even when things don’t seem to be going terribly well, you are still filled with hope. That hope that our glory days of the past are coming back seems realistic more so now, than it has ever been. It is true that the past two seasons have been the worst in recent history but the events that took place during the course of the last season are significant in the development of the club towards a bright future.

No one will forget the year that the Texas cowboys who bought the club to make a quick profit finally left our club and were replaced with respectable, wealthy and ambitious owners. No one will forget the return of Kenny Dalglish to the helm replacing Roy Hodgson who had a torrid 6 month spell as manager. No one will forget the match Luis Suarez jinked one defender of the Red Devils, then another and then still another before gliding the ball through the legs of Van Der Sar for Kuyt to slot in. Nor will they forget the first match of Torres in a blue shirt as Agger and Meireles made him weep.

Despite the outcome of the past two seasons, we fans have every right to be optimistic about the future. Kenny Dalglish is making us dream. A Man U fan recently laughed  when he read that Liverpool are in the title race next season and said “I’ve heard this for 21 years” but I’m sure that he knows that our time is fast approaching. We might not win the league next year but we will in the near future. The team that is being built is not for instant success but for the long term, one that will not break down as soon as the oil dries up in the Middle East.

The youth system in our club is the best in the country and second in the world after that of the European champions. A number of the young lads have made positive impressions at club and international level. These exciting prospects will be itching to break into the first team and be the next Gerrard or Carragher. Thus we will be able to get quality players without having to spend ridiculous money in the inflated transfer market and be able to gain funds by selling academy players who do not fit in or are not up to the mark. The way Kelly, Spearing, Robinson and Flanagan answered the King’s call last season when there was no squad depth was pleasing to everyone’s eyes and the Kop was showed them with their vocal appreciation. The displays by them shows that they know what it means to wear a Liverpool shirt and go out and represent the club as they always give a 100%.

One by one all the pieces of the puzzle seem to be coming together. I really do hope we can bring back Champions League football to Anfield soon as it seems wrong, not just to us, but to the competition as a whole, that Liverpool is not a part of it. A top 4 place in next year’s league should be the prime target and anything more than that will be a bonus. Anything less than that would be deemed a failure. One thing certain for us is that there are only good times ahead.

What a load of rubbish! Where is the proof that your youth system is the best in the country? Did you not see Man Utds young team take city apart yesterday? You will not be winning the league for a long time in my opinion, as your far behind the big 3 of Man Utd,Chelsea and Man city.

Very true Mike, United’s young uns do look good – apart from a young keeper who may cost you a few points in the season!

The Trafford Hoofers really are nothing special, Kenny knows this full well, just tackle hard and attack them and watch them fall to pieces, as Liverpool proved when thrashing them in March and as Mercenary City proved in the first half yesterday, before capitulating and gifting Man Hoof the win.

I don’t think from competitions, players quality or youth system perspective, ManU ‘ll be under any challenge in near future (I doubt ever). I see the challenge coming from a different corner – the retirement of a certain already 70 years old outstanding Scotchman.

Despite being a life long LFC fan, I had the greatest admiration for this great man. What he achieved in 25 years (Mostly in last 15 years), only money, youth system or good luck can’t get you. Once Sir Alex retires, I can see a big decline in MU fortune.

Even as a Red I find this a poor article. Not wanting to be too harsh, but try writing something you would be interested to read yourself.

As a Liverpool supporter, I can’t wait to see the plastic manure supporters crying all over their prawn sarnies sometime soon. The real manure fans generally know when to shut up and be respectful of their competitors.

Manure are the team to beat currently, as Liverpool were in the 70s and 80s. Not everything lasts forever though and I believe that once taggart retires there will naturally be a slight slide. I don’t think it will be a total slide, but I think the dominance will be over.

Both teams have some good young players, and I can see manure and Liverpool fighting it out in the next few years. To be disrespectful to the great things going on in the lfc youth system would be ignorant and arrogant, similar to saying manure’s is rubbish as well.

Liverpool will produce a full first team from the current crop or at least players capable of playing premier league football at a high level. Like smalling, Jones etc at manure, watch suso, sterling, wisdom, coady, flanagan, Robinson, Ngoo, adorjan etc etc.

We have heard these youth names rolled off before in years gone by. Anderson!Partridge!Rizzo!Hobbs!Guthrie!Charnock!Hammill!Potter!Dalla Valle! Brazier!Mannix! all the next great thing.
A full first team?! Control those emotions!!

i dont say we have the best youth academy, but we can look forward to the likes of sterling, spearing, kelly, flanagan etc. they jus need some1 who can get the best out of them. And we HAVE the right guy in the whole world to do jus that ‘Kenny Dalgish’.

Pool fans already know this.., Mancs, chin up. Get better odds on recent performances…
