When asked by Liverpoolfc.tv which player most often stays behind for extra training, First Team Coach Steve Clarke replied:

“I can’t pick out individuals but to be fair to Jordan (Henderson) since he came here, he’s always hanging around with a ball at his feet. He wants to do some crosses or shooting. He’s not alone in that, though.”

Clarke also said that the coaching staff are pretty old fashioned when judging players in training:

“What we have is a fantastic back-up team who have the heart-rate monitors, the Pro-zone, the fitness stats. Kenny, Kevin and myself are quite old fashioned in that we look at it with our eyes, and it’s nice if they come in after and show us the data and it ties in with what we thought.”

Sounds like Steve Clarke is trying to give us a hint Henderson is going to be starting again by telling us he deserves to be named cause of the hard work hes been putting in at training. OMG when are we going to face the facts hes not good enough at the moment.

Glad you put in ‘at the moment’ Shows a level of patience and maturity.

Dont doubt he will turn into a great player in years to come but for now he should definetely be behind the likes of Kuyt , Bellamy for RM and even Spearing in the CM position.

well said, i doub’t he will be a good player in years to come but, that doesn’t mean he should be starting week in week out leaving Kuyt on the bench. Even tho he’s playing on the right and can play there, his prefered choice is centre midf, maybe this is one of the reasons he drifts in n out of the game alot.

My two-year-old nephew can never part with his beloved football. He eats and sleeps with the football by his side, and plays all day long with it tirelessly. By the same token, I reckon Steve Clarke would conclude that my nephew is destined to be a truly great footballer.

Jordan is not going to move the team forward. What is the point of having a player who more than often receive the ball, pass back to Lucas, receive the ball again, pass back to Adam. If Liverpool is paying huge wages to this player, might as well pay me. I can do that.

4 words – He “keeps things ticking over” ……….. you can’t plunge the ball forwards every-time you receive it …… possession football ……. give it time to blossom

    • Stan says:

Ticking over? wow thats a great statement and which player doesnt ‘keep things ticking over’ ahh yes you mean he is a passenger…

      • David Aris-Sutton says:

Don’t be pathetic, if you cant see anything in his performances to date that gives you hope for the future then you don’t know anything about football, not that it matters what you think, smarter men than you value him and luckily they get to make that decision, not you

David aris-sutton you are a complete tool mate!
How arrogant are you?? how dare you talk to stan
like that if you spoke like that to me mate you would recieve a slap around the chops!

        • Stan says:

I must be as stupid as all the rest of the former champions in Lawro, Rush and Barnes who have openly come out and said that Kuyt should be starting ahead of Hendo…Go back and follow the rest of your flock… Its you who has no idea you nitwit.

  • Steven says:

The only real way to grow a players talent is by time on the park! I must admit I too get frustrated at times. At 31 Kuyt will be nearing the end along with Gerrard, Carragher and Maxi too! I guess if we are focusing a re build pahse then this is the time to put them in with experience back… Clutching at straws because in all fairness, I think the management team knows more than I ever would!

I think I figured out why Henderson is in the team. He is still learning to gel with the team in terms of Liverpools slow buildup in possession when opposition have set up behind the half-way line. In that respect he has to improve. His strength right now lines in with counter-attacking where he can distribute the ball on fast breaks. But even there he has made mistakes, most notably against Stoke where he could have played in Suarez instead of getting stuffed in 3 attempts. Having said that, he still not showing why he should be getting starting place, especially when he has the same approach every game and not showing signs of learning.

  • Good lad, keep putting in the effort.

  • jimmy c says:

Thats us well and truely f….d if henderson starts the everton game, the lads crap!he plays like a girl, this is all wrong kenny, iam not happy
with the way you are treating the wishes of the
fans who can clearly see that this henderson lad was a bad buy,so what he is fit as a fiddle, and can run all day, so can forest gump but would he get
    in the team?

    • Stan says:

well put Jimmy…at least for now he shouldnt be starting I think 95% of people realize that. Except for some of the blinded ..notably David Aris
