He needs a fair chance to prove himself

It’s apparently open season on Liverpool’s 35 million pound man Andy Carroll, as critics seem to be lining up to have a dig at the big number nine. Is this criticism over the top, and is it simply due to his fee?

Clearly having the label of the most expensive British footballer in history is always going to leave you open for high scrutiny and inevitable criticism. However, the scathing manner of the criticism of Carroll has been a bit far fetched, particularly at such an early stage of the season. The fee and the media hype surrounding him, isn’t Carroll’s fault, and for a young player with everything to prove, it hasn’t helped his cause.

Carroll joined Liverpool with a serious injury problem, and he has struggled to regain full fitness since the injury. It was unfortunate for him, that he couldn’t hit the ground running, and he wasn’t fully fit when he played for the reds at the end of last season. He still doesn’t quite have his full fitness and match sharpness back, but he is certainly getting there with each passing week. He has obviously lost a lot of confidence after his injury problems, and it will be important for him to start building that up again.

It seems that Andy Carroll’s past mistakes are also counting against him, as critics continue to bash his lifestyle choices and even Fabio Capello has somewhat harshly chipped in with his thoughts on Carroll’s extracurricular activities. Critics are quick to suggest that he is wasting his talent, however this seems to have little bearing on his time at Liverpool, where nothing has come out to suggest anything other than the fact that he has got his head down at the club.

I don’t think the problem is the players. It’s much more to do with the flawed coaching. The mistakes a very basic!

  • Costasy says:

It is only normal Kenny Dalglish to be found under the intense criticism of Liverpool’s fans as the time margins narrow and everybody expect (owners – players – fans) Liverpool to return back to the top of premier league and champions league as soon as possible. What we can understand about Kenny Dalglish in these first five games is that he doesn’t fit in the modern tactical football. That we can easily assess it and for spending an amount of 85,000,000 to bring in players who do not really worth that much: Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson. with that amount he could easily bring in world class players as: Kun Aguero, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Juan Mata and high rated young players as Connor Wickham, Antoine Griezmann and he could kept Raul Meireles, Alberto Aquilani. I am sure that when Kenny Dalglish will realize it that he should step down as Liverpool’s manager will do it without to ask any compensation, I just hope he will do it before it will be too late!

Costasy you’ve said it all. World class players are out there and you keep spending on stupid english men. Just think where England national team are at world of football.

I’m very sorry to say that Kenny’s magnificent and justified reputation will be tarnished by the signings – especially one from Newcastle – he has made. That is a very great pity because he was a terrific servant to the club. But if he can’t see that the players he’s bought just will not do the job, I’m afraid the results will point it out to him.

Andy Carroll must keep his head down and work work work, AND Kenny will COME GOOD. Bit worrying that we wont have a playmaker in midfield next week against a side who did us at Anfield last season. I would play Henderson in the middle -where he belongs and please Kenny Downing on the left

  • Mark says:

Lads, chill – give Andy Carroll a chance. One bad game does not make him a bad player.
As for Kenny – he doesn’t need to prove anything. Have more respect for the Liverpool way ! YNWA

  • For Carroll it’s better to play as an offènsive midfield player both Liverpool and Carroll be in progress YNWA

  • Noel says:

Im sorry to say, but the signing of Carroll was totally down to panic buying. Torres left with little time to do business and we jumped for an injured player. I still cannot understand the fee we paid. Some people on here will say he is still young. So is Aguero, remember Rooney at that age, etc etc. 22 – £35M should buy a world star. Simple. What a waste!!

  • Kopstar says:

Carrol is useless would not even pay 35p for him no touch no speed just a useless player who is a total waste of money there nothing there Henderson is waste of money to what daglish is doing god knows got rid aqulani and merless better players then these two . Got rid cheap deadwood now we have expensive deadwood.

  • stevo says:

As pointed out before the season the signings and the long ball tactics by the so called king??????? is shocking.Every club is laughting again at the pool.No chance of top six ,where is the progress after the apalling Dalglish has spent 85,000,000.Long ball, long ball and long ball yet again looks like Blackburn, when in charge, totally shocking.

  • Rob says:

At £35m any player should be proven already we still need a real striker

  • kenny have already knows that he has fumble in his transfer policy, because kenny could’ve not allowed ALBERT AQUILANI and raul to leave lfc and kenny also made fool of himself by spending such amount of money without a world class player with the form of LUIS SUREZ it could’ve been an advantage to the club,if kenny does’nt adopt the winning method don’t be surprise to see the foot step that torres and raul happens either before the end of the season.

  • Dan says:

Kenny got it all wrong and will keep getting it wrong as he will keep playing the rubbish he spent so much money on as he needs to prove he got it right. We played well last year towards the end we just needed to get rid of sime deadwood and get in two or three decent players. Why not play our proven players from last season? I am sorry but I can never see Henderson or Carrol making a mark, sell them both in Jan cut our losses and get some decent players in before we sink further down the table. As fir Adam he needs far too much time on the ball no use to our style of play

  • jacklfc says:

There is nothing wrong in spending millions on young english talent . . . . Bt clearly everybody knws Caroll was injured and 35mil is huge price tag.
Bt i wld question king kenny abt playing hendo on the right . . . Where the hell is Maxi . . .??
Y cant we start with kuyt and bellamy .

  • percy says:

“The fee and the media hype surrounding him, isn’t Carroll’s fault” so who’s fault is it!!!! ??? I think we all know the answer to that!!!

  • Flauvio says:

Mark my words. The majority of you clowns will be chanting Carrolls name come May when LFC are once again a top-four side and he has 20+ to his name.
