Derbies are always difficult to judge for the simple reason that both sides have extra motivation to win the game. The fact that Liverpool were gifted an early sending off of an Everton player by Martin Atkinson however makes it even hard to judge where the Reds are at currently.

As expected the Reds did go for a 4-4-2 formation, but there was a surprise in the fact that Dirk Kuyt started ahead of Jordan Henderson. King Kenny had been steadfast in the faith he had shown in young Jordan but you can fully understand why Dalglish picked Kuyt ahead of Henderson in such a match. Hendo is not in the greatest of form and is still settling in, and a poor match in the Merseyside Derby could have dented his confidence and this is why I feel Kenny opted for experience.

The start of the match was as we all thought, both Liverpool and Everton were very competitive and were keen to dominate possession and before the sending off it was a very level encounter with Luis Suarez perhaps having the best chance after heading the ball straight at Tim Howard.

Rodwell’s sending off completely changed the game though and it must be said it was a very harsh decision, with the Everton midfielder neither going in two footed or studs showing. Still, the Reds needed to take advantage of the situation and they should have done but for a great save from Howard from Dirk Kuyt’s penalty.

By rights the noses should have really been down to 8 by the end of the game, they are the dirtiest team in the premiership Hibbert and Cahill being the worst.

    of the point now
3 players I’ll love to see get injured(2-3 weeks) or suspended are:
    1) Skrtel: Coates will get a run of games n much needed game time.
2)Adam: Gerard will start n Spearing may/will get some game time.
3)Kuyt: so Maxi can get some game time or be in the match squad.
I dont fink any of these (preconceived mild injuries or suspensions will leave the team in a bad place)
*Note* Now b4 dem can*i*als try to eat me alive, am just paintin a picture. no banter pls
