Some innovative ideas to redevelop Anfield

|

Lower the Pitch

If the city council doesn’t allow building upwards, LFC should plan building downwards. By lowering the stadium, and perhaps slightly narrowing it, extra height can be created. This would allow for the building of the required new 2 tiered Main stand. Extra rows can also be placed at the Anfield Road and Centenary stands.

Obviously, the proposition would introduce many challenges, mainly the relocation of buried, underground services and the structural integrity of the existing stand pillars. However, with some engineering and extra costs, these challenges could be overcome.

Glassed Floor Roof

Another option to increase capacity would be installing a glassed floor roof on top of the Anfield grass pitch. People would then be able to go onto the floor level and watch the match from top aerial view either from specially installed tilted chairs or simply by lying down on their belly. With an estimated 6,800 sq meter of area, more than 3,000 fans can easily fit in. Crazy idea but worth looking at.

Renaming the Stand

With all the talks about renaming the new stadium and mutual refusal by FSG, LFC and the fans to rename Anfield, renaming one of the stands, such as the newly built Main stand as per above, would offer interesting commercial outlook.

Any more ideas to increase capacity of Anfield within the above restrictions set by the council?

There are no such restrictions at the Anfield Rd end. It could easily be made larger than the Kop with Anfield Road actually running under it. That, along with modernisation of the Main Stand could easily increase capacity to 60,000+

No, the article is written in good English, he must be a knowledgeable person. Actually, he don’t have any idea on structural engineering. To add another layer, Anfield needs to be dug at least 10 metres vertically other wise the pitch has to be narrowed by around 10 mts. in all 4 boundary.

The glass top is praiseworthy for innovativeness. No flat glass plate of 110 X 75 mt. can sustain even own load at the G points, let alone carry 3,000 person (over 200 tons. & laying on bally to see a game from top..

We need a new stadium, plain & simple; & that must be over 80,000+ provisional capacity. To build any stadium over 40,000+ capacity ‘ll cost around 300mn, adding next 40,000 should not cost more than another 100mn. I don’t mind watching my team at Apple arena, Toyota garden, Standard Chartered Stadium or Mobil Bowl

Hence the comment needs their head examined the very concept is ludicrous with or without an engineering back round.
Next up will be the ground share idea creating a super stadium for the city of Liverpool.

Richard, there is always a time when the weirdos come out of the woodwork and this article seems to prove it. Mind you it gives you a laugh on a very rainy day here in Cornwall! I look forward to more “brains” getting to grips with the idea…

that gave me a good laugh, some imagination..

  • Lol I like the glass roof idea.
