A Letter to Fernando Torres

|

Dear Fernando,

You were a great player for a great club.  The fans adored you; backed you at every single turn, supported you even when you were entering in to that whining, moaning, and pulling-sad-faces-at-the-ref stage of your career.  We were even there for you right up until the last minute.  Then you decided you wanted to move to Chelsea and initially, we were all incredibly confused.

This was a little bit too much for us all to get our tiny minds around.  We were feeling ever more comfortable that you weren’t going anywhere, after rumours had been quashed and you repeatedly declared your love for us and our club, you left.  And almost simultaneously, we ‘replaced’ you with Andy Carroll.  Put yourself in our shoes: would you find that easy to take?  Imagine if your wife spent years reminding you she loved you, that you were the only one for her; that she was a little disappointed with how things had been of late but that she would stand by you and help bring in better times for you both.  Then you wake up one day and she’s buggered off with the rich bloke down the road.  Now, my analogy may be slightly off but you get what I’m saying: how would you feel?

So, to see you repeat in the press yesterday that ‘The Liverpool fans don’t know the truth about why I signed for Chelsea’ is only going to rub further salt in the wound and irk us even more.  You’re right: we don’t know why you signed for Chelsea but you appear to think you had a good reason.  While we may be able to understand why, at that time, you wanted to leave if you felt that certain promises had been broken and that you weren’t getting 100% support from the club.  The one thing that none of us can really understand is, why Chelsea?

[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]

A club we must’ve played near enough 15 times while you were with us; a club whose bane you were, a club that we had developed an intense and very recent rivalry with since 2005 because, even after having a terrible season by your own standards, you were still in high demand.  Breaking the British transfer record is testament enough to that.  But you had your pick of where to go: Barcelona, Real Madrid, probably any of the big Italian clubs.  Hell, if you were that desperate to get out I’m sure we could even have arranged a loan to Tranmere until the summer, when you could’ve chosen pretty much any club you wanted.

I suppose what I’m saying is, while most Reds could probably come to terms with why you might want to leave, if you’d gone about it in a way that showed some class, if you hadn’t left it until the very last minute (therefore giving us more time to find a suitable replacement) and if you hadn’t chosen Chelsea, we wouldn’t feel such a degree of animosity toward you and assume that you left for nothing other than a fatter wage packet each month.  Nor would we feel such devilish glee when you continue to fail down there.

So, Fernando, if you feel that there is some information we’re missing, or that you know something which we are unaware of that may enlighten us to the point that we’d forgive you on the spot then please, tell us?  Because releasing the exact same statement at 1 month intervals doesn’t change a thing.

Or shall we just wait and pick up your autobiography?

Best Wishes,

Still Disgruntled Red

move on, he knows he should have stayed. that’ll do me.

  • Lars says:

I belive Torres was great for us. I wish him well, and just maybe we will see him in red again…

  • Harry R says:

Oh! come on, leave the poor thing alone! He is still missing us. He is regretting his move every minute. So he is trying to find people who could put an arm around his shoulders and tell him that was the right move. ! Well, on a serious note, atleast Carroll looks interested when he plays for us. Fernando’s betrayal can only matched by a certain Michael owen and Macca. Atleast Mascherano made up with us after the champions league victory over you know who.

You said:”He is regretting his move every minute. So he is trying to find people who could put an arm around his shoulders and tell him that was the right move. !” Going th Chelsea WASN’T the right thing to do! And all that talkin’ how he’ll not leave us,how Anfield is his home ect. for what?? FOR NOTHING?? FOR BUNCH OF HIS WORDS LIKE ‘you don’t know the right story bla bla..’ Well bloody hell I don’t know the whole story.Huh,why don’t you tell it to us? My point of view of Fernando:He is a machine that had a value date that went out when he singed damn contract with Chelsea!!! And to leave the poor thin alone??!! The is not poor,he is swimming in his millions of pounds that he got on a non-honorous way!!!!Let’s hear smthn’ from him, that RIGHT story and to have our minds clear!! For God’s seaks,we’re humans,we have feelings and we looked him like a God,how could that dissapear in a smich?? In a milisecond?? And somebody said that he isscared that the fans won’t accept him! ofcourse that we WON’T accept him.He was good, and woth the of admiration, but now I don’t think so.Bye,bye Fernando! Don’t call our names TRAITOR!

  • Bouncer says:

Shut up and do one Nando … Never want to see you Anfield again in any shirt … Tranny Traitor

  • Dubai_Red says:

Would add one more thing: why not wait till the end of the season and then leave? Why not give the new ownwers and KK a chance?

The new owners had only jus been appointed, andtherefore what promise did they break to you in that short time? Or was it a promise made. By the old regime and manager? Please help us by explaining what promisewere actually broken!

  • Joy says:

Its clear he wants to come back but scared that the fans won’t accept him,may be he wasn’t happy at Anfield but now he is going through hell for sure.Come back home Nando all is forgiven. For some reason I still like him and feel sorry for him, he knows he made a mistake, would love to see him linking up with Gerrard once again in a red shirt just like those good old days.

  • bongo says:

Nasri did the same to us. He and Torres are idiots to think that all good they did for us can’t be wiped out in an instant by a betrayal such as that for more money, both left when the clubs who made them needed them the most.

When are players going to learn that if you can’t stay loyal then at least show the fans some respect by not patronizing us.

Neither Liverpool nor Arsenal are in a position to call ourselves top clubs at the moment we’re competing but as of yet are not going to start filling the cabinet with silverware season after season. I would like to think for both clubs ti will happen soon, because Liverpool are club to be respected and admired, as much for their history as the respect their fans show others (except the red mancs) Our histories and the prestige of our clubs demand more respect for the players who play for us. Liverpool made Torres the player he is and without them he has crashed and burned. Nasri is where he is now because of Arsenal and he too spat in our faces for more money. I’m not an expert on Liverpool’s history but they have plenty of cases where players thought they were bigger than the club, left for more money and flopped.

I can only highlight the case of Fabregas a man who will be admired by us Arsenal fans and say that if Gerard told the kop he wanted to seek adventure in Spain before he retires he’d let go with a thanks and a good luck because he’s shown loyalty and respect always.

  • Davie says:

Torres belongs in Madrid that’s were he will return to. His Chelsea move is his one big mistake & he will no this soon enough if he does`nt know it already. He was excellent at us its a shame he never had the patience to stay. He`s history now….

You don’t have to pitch a fit over every player that moves away. Great players will always transfer to a better team for either increased pay or for Champions league play. Even the move to Chelsea makes sense if you think about how well he played against them. They saw first hand how talented he was and decided to pay very well. Who wouldn’t make that move for that much money? I know that I would make that choice even if it meant playing for Chelsea. About his failure to perform now, the Chelsea players pass on passing him the ball and his coach(es) play(s) him for 15 minutes max. I’m not a Chelsea, Liverpool, or Torres fan, but I hate to see his talent wasted by his club and his confidence wrecked by the club that he poured his blood and sweat out for during his prime. Liverpool fans, appreciate what he gave for y’all and support the man who always gave his all for your club. -a red devil

it is a case of “Soldier goes,Soldier comes, but the Barrack remains”. Torres and Nasri were just a process for Liverpool and Arsenal, and so the Clubs must move on to achieve greatness… Trust me that sooner or later, they will regret{that is if they are not already} Long Live Arsenal FC…

  • anfield rd dreamer says:

Bongo agree completely and thank you for appreciation from a neutral its a refreshing change from the views of just united and everton fans that is all we usually get. and blaise I can appreciate what you’re saying but (much as I hate the guy) ronaldo did things the right way when he left you guys, it was planned it was arranged, he was honest all way through, he gave Fergie plenty of time to prepare for it he left with all parties in a decent position to carry on successfully and it was done at the right time for united to get ready for a season without him. Hate Ronaldo but he treated united with respect and left in a classy way, if Torres who I loved had of treated us with the same respect and consideration, and honesty, not a single Liverpool fan would be wishing him misfortune at his new club… well except when competing with us of course!

  • man says:

    bloodyfool torres..

    • Eshmael says:

Let him keep talking. This shows what a great mistake he did…Alonso & Mascherano had never made such complaints so what’s wrong with him!?

  • Ashfah Hussain says:

There;s a two way ticket for you, Torres.

  • Satha says:

Torres is finished as a footballer!

  • emothic says:

after the confirmation of liverpool to sign suarez and he hand in transfer request, just 2 days left b4 the trnsfer window closed and just leave us like that.he just care for himself. He know that he and suarez will be the fearsome striking in epl..thats make us dissapointing with what ur decision and start to hate u..

  • Dave herbert says:

I’d love to get into the mind of Fernando Torres. Do you think deep down he regrets leaving the mighty reds? I have mixed feelings to be honest. I think he is a world class striker who will come good again. Would I accept him back at Liverpool? In a flash. I just have this feeling that he would love to stand in front of the kop again…and show us how happy he was to be back. An apology? Well we might be pushing our luck to expect that much, after all, this is the premier league 🙂

  • Greg says:

One big point seems tobe missed here. Torres for some reason has or already had developed a negative attitide and no matter where he ends up his attitude must change or he will end up on loan at Tranmere. Attitude is so important during good and more importantly bad times, and unfortunatley Torres could not keepa good attitude for whatever reason during the bad times, this is a fundamenatal floor in his make up and we do not need players with ‘bad attitudes’ Dalglish found this very quickly and sold him, fantastic move.

  • nigel says:

He regrets it deep down. Who knows what promises were broken by our owners? They brought in Suarez.. That shows ambition to me. Bringing in more top class players to play alongside him!! They prob would be so awesome together up front, but he’s made his choice now, so we have to get on with it. If we had the chance to re sign though, I prob would. We all make mistakes in life. However, it won’t happen!! Malaga are pretty loaded right nowm, so he will prob have that option!

  • dear fellow lfc fan just think of what may happen if the managers decide to bring torres back to lfc,1,you should know even if torres is brought back to lfc that he (TORRES)will not be playing with his full mind because he left expecting that all will be well over there for him but as nobody knows tomorow except God things were not for,so is better for our dear club (lfc) to spend good money and bring in someone who can hit the net for us as needed as we’re almost at champions league spot if we can bring in a top finisher to do the damages upfront for us.

  • torres says:

hes finished, we got 50 million ha ha , maybe sell the russian big andy for 100 million
