Steven Gerrard is set to return for Liverpool’s game against Norwich on Saturday after missing the defeat to West Brom through injury.

Kenny Dalglish revealed on Thursday that Gerrard had been omitted from the matchday squad last weekend as a precaution, but added that the Reds skipper has been training all week.

Charlie Adam will definitely miss the game, having been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury. Adam joins Lucas Leiva, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in November, on the injury list but aside from Adam and Lucas, Dalglish should have a full squad to choose from.

With four Premier League games remaining, Liverpool will hoping to leapfrog local rivals Everton, who are currently two points ahead of the Reds. If the Toffees drop points in their home fixture against Fulham earlier in the day, a win for Liverpool on Saturday evening could see them move into seventh place.

The defeat at home to West Brom last Sunday ensured that Liverpool’s poor league form continued; the Reds have won just two of their last ten Premier League games. However Liverpool’s away record is better than their home record and Norwich are not in the best form either, having also won just two of their last ten fixtures. Norwich’s last home game was a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Man City but the Reds will still have to be wary of the Canaries’ dangerman, striker Grant Holt. Holt has scored 13 league goals this season, which is five more than Liverpool’s top league goalscorer, Luis Suarez.

In the reverse fixture, Liverpool drew 1-1 at home to Norwich in October, with Craig Bellamy scoring the goal that secured a point for the Reds. Bellamy and company will be hoping for a better result at Carrow Road.
