LUIS Suarez has rubbished reports linking him with a move away from Liverpool this summer. Suarez, undoubtedly one of the Reds’ star performers in his first full season at the club, has been linked with numerous clubs by countless reports during his time at Anfield.

The most recent clubs that the Uruguayan has been linked with moves to are, arguably, the two best in the world; none other than Spanish giants Real Madrid and the Catalan colossus Barcelona.

The South American star, who hit 17 goals for Liverpool this season, was immediately linked with the two clubs following the Anfield side’s poor finish to the 2011/12 campaign. However, reports that contact has been made by either club with Suarez or his agent were firmly quoshed by the number seven.

In comments published on ESPN from an interview given to the Liverpool Echo, Suarez remarked:

“Being honest, I have never talked to anyone from Barca or Real Madrid. If the rumours are to be believed I would have already played for 20 teams.

“Liverpool have had a good season and we got to two cup finals. In the Premier League we did not finish as high as expected, but positive things have been taken. Liverpool is a 10/10 club for the support they give the players. I am very grateful to the club for giving me the opportunity to play in the Premiership.”

Meanwhile, former England Captain and Premier League goalscoring icon, Alan Shearer, has backed Andy Carroll to succeed for Liverpool and, with Euro 2012 in mind, for England.

In an interview with the Guardian, the former Newcastle and England number 9 had this to say about the current Liverpool number 9:

“People forget that the whole system at Newcastle was designed for Andy. That was always the first movement. That hasn’t always been the case for him at Liverpool this year. Maybe that’s why he hasn’t played as much as he would have liked to.

“Age is on his side. He absolutely has time. I hope he can build a partnership with Luis Suarez that’s there for many years because he’s a good lad, Andy. He wants to improve and he wants to play.”

Shearer believes Roy Hodgson was right to include Carroll in his Euro 2012 squad, telling the Daily Star :

“He has finished the season well. The Andy Carroll that I saw coming on against Chelsea in the FA Cup Final was the Andy Carroll I have seen week in and week out at Newcastle.

“He was ¬bullying defenders, scoring goals running the channels.”
