Maxi To Stay?

REPORTS indicating that Maxi Rodriguez had left Liverpool FC yesterday have proved false with the classy midfielder confirming he is still very much a Red.

Yesterday, rumours spread around the web like wildfire that the little Argentine had followed Dirk Kuyt out the club, as widely expected, due to the severe lack of playing time afforded him last season, alongside the fact that he has just 12 months left on his LFC contract.

After featuring 21 times for Liverpool last season, mainly as substitute, it was thought the 31-year old waved goodbye to the Anfield crowd (and Anfield career) in the final home game of the season, against Chelsea.

In returning to his homeland, it was believed Maxi had now agreed to re-sign for former club Newell’s (where he started his career), after being spotted in Rosario. However the little Argentine dismissed this as mere speculation after speaking to Ole newspaper:

“I do not know where these things come from. I have one year left on my contract at Liverpool and did not talk to anybody.”

It is thought that new manager Brendan Rodgers may have given all players who remain at Anfield this season a clean slate, with Maxi seemingly a perfect fit to the new manager’s preferred ‘tiki-taka’ style of play, as well as weighing in with an impressive 6 goals from midfield despite his limited match time.

Doubts will remain however, as to whether we will indeed see Maxi ‘run down the wing for’ us again next season.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...

I’d really rather you stayed Maxi, so please don’t go anywhere. We may well still have need of you next season.

  • Bekim says:

I hope he stays. I’d rather have him than S Downing. If we could get A Johnson from MC it would IMO b great.

Stay with us boss…u re going no where…kenny messed u up becos he never understood what modern football is all abt and based on the fact that he bought some embarrasing players, and was constantly trying to cover his sh**……

Much more intelligent player than Downing, but I would like to see someone better than the both of them on our left wing next season. Sesingnon would be a good signing and at a decent price
