LIVERPOOL FC’s transfer speculation has been kicked up a notch in the last week after the club announced the signing of AS Roma forward Fabio Borini.

Borini’s signing means at least one rumour about the club was true this summer and further ignites the transfer mill with more fuel to its fire this summer. The Reds have multiple players, both young and old, that are linked to the club as well as being rumoured to depart.

With at least one having now proven to be true, Red’s fans can only hope the good ones are true and the poor ones are false as we take a look at Liverpool’s latest names in the news now.

Ibrahim Afellay

Liverpool and Arsenal target Ibrahim Afellay is considering his future after Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova informed the winger he would have a peripheral role at the Nou Camp next season, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.

Afellay cut his summer holiday short to seek talks with Vilanova and the new Barcelona boss, has informed the Dutchman that he will be little more than a squad player next term.

Afellay, whose progress at the club has been hampered by injuries since arriving at Barcelona from PSV in January 2011, has managed just eight league starts in a season and a half. And the 26-year-old is now exploring options from a string of suitors.

talkSPORT revealed that the Dutchman has ruled out a switch to French club Lille as he is considering his options, as Arsenal, Inter Milan and Liverpool are all interested. Liverpool have been monitoring Afellay’s situation for a while now as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his side’s attacking options ahead of the new season.

Kevin Mirallas

According to SkySports, both Arsenal and Liverpool have expressed an interest in Belgian star Kevin Mirallas. The 24-year-old has been in sensational form with Olympiakos since joining two years ago from St. Etienne. He caught the eye of a number of clubs in Europe after a stellar season in which he scored 34 league goals in 49 starts. Now it seems he could be set for a switch to England, with both Arsenal and Liverpool showing an interest. Mirallas has a buy-out clause of just €8.25million (£6.4million) and there is little doubt this has made him a hugely attractive proposition. It is believed both clubs could now hold talks with his agents, with Olympiakos prepared to let interested parties discuss terms due to his buy-out clause.

Daniel Agger

After the rumours linking him to Real Madrid, latest reports in The Guardian suggest that Liverpool’s Danish centre-back Daniel Agger has attracted Barcelona’s interest. It has reported that the Catalan giants are looking at the Anfield man after their move for Athletic Bilbao’s Javi Martinez hit the rocks.

Agger is seen as the ideal alternative, as new boss Tito Vilanova looks to boost his squad’s threadbare backline. Injury to Carles Puyol and the retirement of Eric Abidal have exposed the true lack of depth in the club’s ranks, an issue that they are trying to resolve this summer.

The signing of left-back Jordi Alba has already been secured but the club are still looking to add to their squad. The Dane’s technical ability is believed to be a key factor in Barca’s pursuit, as they believe he could adapt easily to their brand of football. Liverpool would be reluctant to let their man leave, after he struck up a strong partnership with Martin Skrtel last season, with the defender also voicing his commitment to the Merseyside club not less than two weeks ago.

If Agger leave it should be for some serious money!

Liverpool can not afford to brand themselves as selling club, if they are selling they should get fee’s in exes of 20 mil. never mind he is a defender. Worse players have been sold for more.

If agger lives or skrtel we must swap with some players they have and we need to get gaston ramirez not joe allen

Should lfc even attempt to give listening to Barcas rubbish called negotiations for the player, i would consider as those who do not know what they are doing. Due to the fact that they (barca) did not listen to lfc when Tello, Bojan where on the list according to rumors; if there were really true.
