‘Loaning Out’ Carroll Makes No Sense!

RUMOURS are rife that Andy Carroll will start the 2012/2013 season representing a different club to Liverpool FC after it has been suggested that Brendan Rodgers is ready to part company with the England striker.

So far Carroll’s hometown club Newcastle seem to be the only club who have made a concrete offer for the big man but their season-long loan offer has been quickly rebuffed.

Despite this rejection, it has been suggested that Liverpool and Rodgers may be willing to let Carroll go out on loan but our question to that idea would be – how does a loan move for Andy Carroll benefit Liverpool Football Club?

At just 23, Carroll has time on his hands, and a loan deal could possibly improve the standard of his play which, in the long term, would benefit Liverpool. However, having said that, the overwhelming reason why it is being suggested that Carroll will leave is because he does not fit into the style of play in which Rodgers wants to implement at the club. Therefore, a loan deal, even though beneficial for Carroll, would not afford the forward the opportunity to gain the sort of education needed to understand how to fit into a ‘Tiki-Taka’ style of football, as any club that takes Carroll on for the season would play to his strengths rather than weaknesses.

A lot of people have been talking about the need for a replacement for Carroll if he does eventually leave; however, I strongly believe that Rodgers has brought in new signing Fabio Borini with a view to starting the Italian as the main centre-forward in a 4-3-3 formation. It is no secret that Rodgers is targeting Clint Dempsey and the American would bring versatility to Liverpool and could play up top if needed, meaning Carroll could fall even further down the pecking order.

Rodgers has a massive decision to make if he has already chosen to get rid of Carroll. Does he send him out on loan and hope that his performances increase his value in order to recoup a significant percentage of the £35million paid for the Englishman in January 2011, or does he take a huge hit on him now and sell him for possibly less than half what was paid for his services 18 months ago?

For me, I would keep Andy Carroll as what he offers is unrivalled by anybody currently at Liverpool. On his day, no defender in the world can handle him and, if ‘Tiki-Taka’ doesn’t work out at the club , then Carroll offers a back-up solution and a change of style which, in turn, gives Liverpool a number of options and adds to their unpredictability.

What do you think? Should Carroll stay or leave? And if he is to leave do we sell and take a loss or loan and hope for the best? Give us your thoughts.

I think Andy is on the up now. He is also very hungry to prove himself. I think we should give him a chance. If we sell him to ncu they will finish in the top 4.
      I say keep him.

He must stay. At this point, all the better teams have 4+ options at forward. Especially with a 4-3-3, you need more. Suarez, Borini can’t play every game or always play full games. City have Aguero, Ballotelli, Tevez and Dzeko and they rarely played more than two at once. Keep Carrol and add to the squad. They played much better than the table suggested. Convert a chance here and there and they would have finished much closer to 4th if not 4th.

carroll not good enough. we paid over the odds for him and well be lucky if we get 15 for him, let alone 20. he is slow, limited technique and does not suit a high tempo passing game. sell and get someone in who can play the game

People amaze me when they keep sayin Carrol has all d time in d world to improve I’m sure you know he is older than Chicarito and Neymar…..Carrol is not a world class player, and I believe anyone that is not fantasizing knows that. He can easily be replaced with any player……if you are talking about makin Carol a back up player,I’m sorry I must say dat you shld ave ‘Amnesia’ for saying dat….he neva wanted to sit on d bench at any point last season and rememba how he abused Dalglish for substitutin him in a game……this guy is not a good player,it is so obvious, let go of him,and bring in players of Fowler’s and d Liverpool Owen’s Calibre

  • ken says:

no way will newcastle buy him they havnt got the money liverpool want,so they will play the game and then nothink will happen.

  • professor zem says:

We can use the money from selling Carroll to buy an effective striker. This is what KD should have done with the money from the sale of Torres. 50 million pounds is enough money to get a terrific striker but he bought Andy Carroll.

i think LFC has paid more than enough signing and keeping Caroll. this is has to be the time for him to find his way out. the club can not afford to loss games by keeping him. Signing him was don impulsively just a quick reation to the departure of Toress. For me he is not a kind of player that liver pool has been looking for …it will be a wise decision for BR to assit him leave the club…

  • Jerry says:

Please let carroll go in peace, what kind of change of plans are you talking about? Does barcelona have any player like carroll? And yet they are the best team in the world… Just let him go, his time is up!!!

Can someone tell me why my comment is still awaitin moderation? Bcos I said Neymar and Chicarito are younger yet better than Carol who is older,Or bcos I said he neva wanted to sit on bench last season but instead he abused Dalglish for the same reason…..my opinion still remains, Carrol isn’t a world class player let him go.
