As the Hillsborough Independent Panel releases its’ report today, residents of Liverpool are invited to gather at St. Georges plateau, this evening, for a vigil in memory of the 96 football fans who lost their lives.

The vigil will start at 6pm, and will include prayers, readings and the names of all 96 fans will be read out, as 96 candles are lit in memory.  The vigil will last around an hour and all city residents, and anybody that simply wishes to show their support, are invited to attend.

There will also be a two minutes’ silence across the city at 3:06pm.  The Town Hall bells are due to ring out 96 times, in memory of those who lost their lives 23 years ago.
