LIVERPOOL FC have been hit with further injury woe with news that summer signing Fabio Borini has suffered a fracture in his right foot during international duty, which will leave the Reds without the striker for around 6-8 weeks.

After complaining of discomfort coming from his right boot during a training session in Italy, ahead of his country’s under-21 clash v Sweden, a medical scan revealed the fracture. The 21 year old will now return to Merseyside where he’ll be further assessed by the club’s medical team.

Although Borini has scored just once since arriving at Anfield, the news will come as a bitter blow to Liverpool, and manager Brendan Rodgers, who is now left with only one fit senior striker in Luis Suarez. Given the recent furore around the club’s failure to sign an established striker during the recent transfer window, as well as the team’s difficulties in scoring goals, this period is likely to be another very testing time for the new boss, who also allowed Andy Carroll to leave on-loan during the summer.

The situation could mean more playing time in the senior squad for teenagers Adam Morgan and German youth international Samed Yesil, with Dani Pacheco also back in contention. One thing is clear however; Reds fans will be hoping and praying that Luis Suarez returns unscathed from his current tour of international duty, which includes two tough fixtures: Argentina at home, before facing Bolivia away at high altitude.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...
