NAPOLI star striker, and one of the hottest properties in World football, Edinson Cavani wants to have talks with Liverpool FC and Arsenal according to the player’s agent.

Cavani forms a devastating partnership at international level with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, and has been one of the stars of Serie A since arriving in Italy; first playing for Palermo before being signed by their more illustrious rivals Napoli, where he has scored 49 goals in just 64 appearances over the last two seasons.

So far this season, he has notched 8 goals in 11 games for il Partenopei.

Such hot form has led to Cavani’s name being linked with virtually every elite club in Europe over the last 2 years, but rumours have persisted that his preferred destination would be the English Premier League.

With both Chelsea and Manchester City now fluttering their respective diamond-encrusted eyelashes at the latest ‘hottest’ striker in Europe, Radamel Falcao, Cavani’s agent has opened the door up to more perspective buyers.

Speaking to Ecuadorian newspaper El Telegrafo, Claudio Annelucci (Cavani’s agent) said: “Liverpool and Arsenal are the first clubs Cavani has agreed to talk to.

“It is no secret that Cavani wants to play in England; it is one of his biggest dreams.”

Napoli, for their part, have consistently denied that the player is interested in leaving the club.

I suspect it may be just agent talk, but imagine if we did get him! I wonder what the FSGouters would think then?

    • bob says:

believe it when i see it . even if we did sign him -getting rid of FSG is essential for our future

      • Tim Williams says:

for once I agree with you Bob, I will only believe it when he is touching the ‘This is Anfield’ sign in his new shirt!

But if FSG splashed the cash on a Cavani and say 1 or 2 more, would this not placate you some what?

        • bob says:

not really . it would be a start only . im interested in our long term future not just one transfer window . unless they can show that they will keep up with utd , arsenal and spurs in spending , then no , they are not good for our future

        • Tim Williams says:

just done a little research for you Bob, and these are rough figures because of undisclosed figures (and not including the £57m spent on Suarez and Carroll)(and including loans)

Since summer 2011/12 team shave spent:

Arse – 84m ish on around 13 players
          Man U – 110m ish on around 9 players
Spurs – about 58m ish on around 16 players
Liverpool – about 104m ish on around 12 players.

So what are you trying to argue here? from what I can see the cash stumped up by FSG is certainly in the same ball park as the other teams. Is it the wrong players perhaps? if so is that no the fault of the manager/DoF employed to sign the right ones?

    • charles says:

It just ain’t going to happen – end of….

  • EddieC says:

I’m not holding out too much hope – but there is a direct quote so maybe there’s some element of truth in this? I certainly hope so!

    • Shane says:

It would be tremendous if we did manage to pull this deal. Suarez could move to the wings like in his national team. I really have to keep my feet on the floor, but this thought alone is giving me chills. TBut he’s gonna cost a fortune, since he signed an extension last summer.

  • TG says:

Could be Suarez is bending his ear about Liverpool?

  • Moses says:

I pray he cum 2 liverpool

    • Jack says:

@Moses: Who in Liverpool would make him cum, I wonder. Your mum? Perhaps, your sister? Mmm, must be your wife. Right?

  • stevieG says:

This stinks ! This reminds me of blackburn owners pretending to buy Ronaldinho + Beckham – just a ploy to trick fans . They will probably just buy cheap rubbish like Hooper instead
    Hope im wrong though

    • kophead says:

what are you talking about???? when did FSG say they wanted to sign him? his agent made this statement and you seem to think that this is a ploy by the owners? come on!!

  • Best says:

Pls pls pls bring him on.

  • Best says:

Imagin de combination of Suarez, Sterlin, Gerrad & Cavani dats d fantastic 4 i gez. YNWA.

  • Deke Reefer says:

This is a week old spoof off Twitter. Surely you could have done even the slightest bit of research?

  • Karim says:

Social Media just causes more problems. Twitter although I am on it, just frustrates me so much.

Follow me though @kgov81. My opinions are quite out there, sometimes optimistic, sometimes pessimistic.

I wont believe Cavani wants to play for LFC until the bid has been accepted by Napoli at the very least.

  • Lucas says:

Cavani nd suarez wil b gud bt i prefer klass jan huntelaar.

  • Nige says:

Fsg said funds available for right player…. Well here is one of those types mr Werner and mr henry

    • charles says:

What they meant Nige is that funds ARE available but the “right player” is the one that fits squarely into the small amount they will put up!

  • Etim says:

    Sign him mr henry

  • benji says:

No way will fsg pay top money , dream on

  • sander says:

this is a joke . yes ? why would Cavani sign for a middle of table team with a muppet for a manager . it aint gonna happen

  • Gary says:

Seriously, FSG have turned around our club when in dire straits, but in terms of spending money, they are a laughing stock. Paying 35 million for Carroll is a laughing stock exchange. and before anyone battles my statement with the net 15 million theory, let me tell you this, did we need to buy carroll at the time when we already had a striker on his way called Luis Suarez. NO. but we had to spend the cash on a player based on potential because we panicked. How can FSG live with themselves with this buying strategy. Buying potential should be cheap, not expensive. I think they are just downgrading the team, and making massive amounts of money on the name of Liverpool. Because Liverpool are one of the biggest brands of football in the world. Buying these unknown players with cheaper wages and plastic hype for the fans is what I THINK they are doing. I pray to God that I am wrong about this.

    • michael says:

No you are not wrong . Totally right unfortunately . The sooner the rest of our fans wake up to this , the better

    • Truth says:

FSG do not sign players, the manager/manging director do. Don’t blame them for signing overpriced players like Carroll, Downing, Henderson. Blame Dalglish/Ayre.

      • charles says:

Errr Truth! FSG DO supply the money you know – It’s called “being the owner” – quite a neat concept and they now call the shots.

        • Justin black says:

FSG should annually give the manager around 100 million to spend on quality players just as they gave to KD. That proved to be a roaring success so I can think of no reason why they wouldn’t continue with such a brilliant and sustainable plan for Liverpool. Hopefully one day if we adopt this policy our great great club will be revered in Europe like the other great spenders of our time, the mighty Leeds Utd and of course, everyone’s favourite rich mans play thing Chelsea. The only excuse for some of you is that you’re still at school and have yet to develop a fully functioning mind

    • Johnny Luken says:

It Dalglish & Commolli that spent all that money on them, whats the point in pinning all the blame on the owners? Their spending and model they’ve put in seems pretty reasonable to me. What do you want, a sugar daddy?

  • A player like Cavani none to hesitate, he is a real fighter and can bring Liverpool on top this is my point of view it’s Fsg to decide

  • RoytheRed says:

Not a chance, FSG won’t spend.

  • Elias says:

Pay 25 million for him…. No problem with that and get drier mertens and thats whatsup

  • merlin williams says:

What get rid of fsg?you must b joking.stop thinking small I think they’ve learnt their lesson come january they’ll surprise us all in the market.ynwa
