LAST night, Liverpool FC defenders Martin Skrtel and Martin Kelly both won awards at the prestigious North West Football Awards held in Manchester.

Skrtel won the Best Premier League Player award while Martin Kelly won the Rising Star Award, giving Liverpool players a clean sweep in every category they were nominated for.

All player categories were voted for by fans who determined the winners.

“The Liverpool players received thousands of votes from across the globe, surpassing all previous fan voting numbers by a mile. It just goes to show the phenomenal, far reaching support that Liverpool Football Club has” commented Michael Heaven, North West Football Awards.

Winner Martin Kelly said: “It’s a real honour to receive this award. Huge thanks goes to all LFC fans who voted. I’m working hard to get fit and when I’m back I will continue to do you proud”.

Liverpool Football Club Academy Director, Frank McParland attended the ceremony to collect the awards on behalf of the players who were unable to attend due to injury and international duties.
