THESE are the images that most Liverpool FC fans have been longing for since August 26th – Lucas Leiva, back in full training.
Today at Melwood, Lucas trained with the first team ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League fixture against Wigan at Anfield, and the Brazilian looked glad to be back in the mix!
Lucas, who has been missing from first team action since limping off against Manchester City back in August – having returned from an original lengthy lay-off ahead of schedule -has been sorely missed in the heart of the Liverpool midfield this season.
Bereft of his unique attributes, the Reds have struggled defensively this season, with many citing his absence as the reason why the team finds itself languishing in mid-table, having played 11 games in the league.
Also returning to the first team picture today was the Reds first choice keeper (as reiterated by Brendan Rodgers) Pepe Reina, as well as Martin Skrtel and Jonjo Shelvey, who both missed last Sunday’s 1-1 draw versus Chelsea.
