Venue: Anfield

Date: 04/11/12

Kick-Off: 16:00

After seeing a team of youngsters and fringe players outplayed by his former club Swansea City in midweek, Brendan Rodgers will hope his first-team XI can do a better job on Sunday at home to Newcastle. With three points separating the Reds and the Magpies, a win would see Liverpool go level with Alan Pardew’s side in the table.

After starting both the Merseyside derby and the Capital One Cup defeat on Wednesday, Brad Jones may keep his place in goal ahead of Pepe Reina. Glen Johnson may not recover in time from a hamstring injury and if Johnson is not declared fit, Andre Wisdom and Jose Enrique are both likely to start.

After being rested in midweek, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and Nuri Sahin will expect to be recalled to the side, with Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Suso and Raheem Sterling set to move from the bench back into the starting XI.

Newcastle striker Demba Ba may miss the game on Sunday with a shin injury, while Cheick Tiote continues to serve his three match ban. The potential loss of Ba will be a huge boost to Liverpool as the Senegalese international has scored seven goals this season. Apart from those two players and long-term absentee Ryan Taylor, the Toon Army should have a full squad to pick from.
