Venue: White Hart Lane

Date: 28/11/12

Kick-Off: 7:45pm

Liverpool face a tough trip away to Tottenham as they look to extend their run of eight games unbeaten in the league.

A win at White Hart Lane could see the Reds move into the top half of the table, while Spurs will hope to pick up three another three points after their victory against West Ham at the weekend saw them end a run of three successive defeats.

Andre Wisdom has recovered from the knee injury that caused him to miss Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Swansea, while William Gallas will hope to earn a recall for Tottenham after missing the West Ham game. Emmanuel Adebayor remains suspended after being sent-off during Tottenham’s 5-3 defeat at the hands of Arsenal, so Jermain Defoe will expect to lead the line for Spurs once more.

Defoe scored twice in the 3-1 victory over West Ham and the England international is Tottenham’s top scorer, having scored seven league goals so far. Liverpool will also have to be wary of Gareth Bale, who remains unpopular with Reds fans after accusing Charlie Adam of being a coward in July, following Liverpool’s goalless draw with Spurs in Baltimore. Bale suffered an injury scare after being fouled by Adam and the Welshman accused Adam of setting out to deliberately hurt him.
[ad_pod id=”liverpool-tees” align=”center”]
Adam, who signed for Stoke City on transfer deadline day, was sent-off when Liverpool visited White Hart Lane last season. Martin Skrtel was also dismissed as the Reds were beaten 4-0 and Tottenham have won three of their last four league meetings with Liverpool.

Liverpool’s last win at White Hart Lane came in May 2008, when goals from Andriy Voronin and Fernando Torres secured a 2-0 victory on the final day of the season. This time around, all eyes will be on Luis Suarez as the Uruguayan looks to add to his 10 league goals. Such is Liverpool’s reliance on Suarez, their next top scorer after him is own goals.

Four points separate the Reds and Tottenham going into Wednesday’s game and with the benefit of home advantage, Spurs go into the match as favourites. However having gone more than two months since they last tasted defeat in the league, Liverpool will be cautiously optimistic of earning at least a point at the Lane.

Well we know Brenden rodgers will be happy with a draw he always is,to say when you play teams like swansea ” i am happy with a point” is a disgrace to the history of liverpool fc,the man is a loser
who blagged his way by some hard core brown-noseing the american leeches who are bleeding our
club dry, rodgers is now saying the club wont be spending in jan because we need to balance the books, what a load of crap the man talks, this is the guy who said Borini would have us on the edge
of our seats! yeah right! only to grab the remote
control to mute him when he chats nonsense after
another draw, these owners are billionaires so wheres the money for players?? I hate arse-lickers
and rodgers was put in as manager to take orders
from the yanks, kenny wouldnt have stood with their
crap hence the reason he was sacked, time for the fans to wake up and see these american clowns for
what they are,get them out of our club and take rodgers with them!

  • red says:

    Spurs 4 – Liverpool 1

BR expected to be sack before new year!

  • Hugh Yao says:

just what are you blathering on about? how is FSG bleeding the club dry? on what basis do you make that accusation? you’re getting the americans mixed up. hicks and gillete were the ones bleeding us dry. john w. henry saved our asses. FSG forked out the cash in their first season, but no thanks to poor buys by comolli and kenny, the money was poorly used. and the owners are not billionaires. they are businessmen who got stung in the first year managing the club. so now they are cautious and brendan has to do some juggling with sell-and-buy like rafa did. he’s trying to offload the dross and reduce the wage build. this is all part of rebuilding.

instant/overnight success? get a grip fellas. it’s not going to happen. nor would sacking every manager that doesn’t get you 5 wins out of the first 5 games.

    jesus, some people.

  • Hugh Yao says:

jesus some people are so thick you just can’t reason with them. all they do is bleat and bleat. wake up to the reality. sack brendan. pay him off with millions. then what? martinez? di matteo? if the new manager doesn’t win the prem in his first season in charge, then what? fans like you will bay for him to be sacked. sack them all. sack the owners too. the next owner will be a billionaire who will buy you zlatan, neymar, falcao. dream on. what are our alternatives? i am not being naive here. i am no happier with the present situation than you are. but try to see what the manager has been trying to do. stop being a plastic and think that success would come at a wave of a plastic flag.

    • vickers says:

Bloody hell , How stupid can one be ? Dont u people get it ? Success comes when you have a good manager , failure comes when you have a rubbish one . How difficult is that to understand
This season has been a complete disater , the manager is a clown not fit to manage any premier team , and we have puppet fans like yourself believing in the Brendan Rodgers bulls*%t bible .
FSG must love fans like you , you sit back , are patient for years and swallow any bull they tell you

    • vickers says:

ps . which writer are you in disguise , TW perhaps ?

      • Tim Williams says:

its nice that you think about me even when responding to others. If you are thinking about a christmas present for me, I would be happy with HMV vouchers.

Still it is nice to see that you have answered the questions raised. But hey, if you are happy to sit about and trash people for their opinion without qualifying your own then thats cool

        • NJRedsFan says:

Rodgers and the Reds could bring home 3 points today and it wouldnt matter to these people. They’ll only be happy when a sugar daddy buys them the title.

        • NJRedsFan says:

I’m sure their Mommy could buy them one out of a shop window just as easily.. There’s no making them enjoy any amount of success except for possibly Rodgers being sacked and THE YANKS selling the club. After all FSG has truly been so awful to the people of Liverpool. Their problem is that they are not winning the league as fast as they can on their video games.

        • Finn says:

I dont uhderstand why you keep asking for alternatives . Firstly alternatives are not that important , primary objective should be removing a poor manager , thats the first & most important step

There are so many alternatives , so many experienced top managers to choose from , hundreds in fact that would be better than our current one IMO . There is no point until the club remove BR in speculating

        • Tim Williams says:

But surely some sort of plan would need to be in place before Rodgers was removed?

What if Rodgers left and guardiola came in, he would need time to get the team playing his way and install his ethics, it wouldn’t be instantaneous would it? What then if his results mirrored Rodgers? Fire him too?

    • Finn says:

In a Company if you are managing director for example , if your performance was poor – you would be sacked . So yes BR should be sacked .

      • Tim Williams says:

A basic analogy though it is you are right Finn, but you are judged as being poor against targets and goals you have been set no? We don’t know what has been asked of Rodgers by FSG and likewise we don’t know what state the club is in which will have dictated the targets set.

In basic terms, should we not be behind the team and manager? Especially after only 4 months with on,y the slight knowledge we actually know about the club?

        • Hammy says:

No . The target was top 4 . Mr Henry said so , Rodgers has been a mistake and an embarrassment and should resign or be sacked

        • Tim Williams says:

That was last season, they have actually stated this year it is not a must. Whether you or I agree with that, or what they are doing is irrelevant. Liverpool as a club needs rebuilding and again whether we like it or not is not a quick fix!

      • Nigel says:

If this so called Company had such short sighted, expectant employees I think you would have to give the Managing Director time to gradually weed the likes of you out and re-educate the other employees who some how thought that all they had to do was hire a new manager and profit would go through the roof regardless of how they worked or how they totally lacked loyalty to the course, but weren’t totally ignorant. Slowly building a sustainable and successful operation for the long term good of all.
If only we could sack some of the so called supporters,

  • Dara says:

Surely the time for defending BR is at an end ? We cant keep making excuses for him

  • Mac says:

@NJRedsFan – Everytime you comment it makes yanks look even less knowledgeable about football . Go support your local club and try and learn something about soccer b4 commenting

    • NJRedsFan says:

I’ve been supporting LFC for about 10 years now ever since coaching one of Stevie G’s American relatives on my youth team. I do also support my local team. I do lagh eveytime some armchair fan writes the standard response that you did, thanks for the laugh.

  • Grey Wolf says:

I hope Rodgers attacks tonight cause TH are weak in defense
Rodgers has been way too negative all season

  • Mitchell says:

    Come on Reds
If BR just got rid of Allen , pushed Gerrard further up and stopped using Cole , having Morgan as sub – We would win nearly every game

  • sleeps with angels says:

Match just finished 2-1 to spurs, this manager needs to be gone!and the American clowns with him,
i hate americans, greedy b….ds,lets hear what crap rodgers comes out with after this.oh! and a message to the clown Hugh yao,who are you mate?
are you on the payroll of the american pr..ks?
Fsg are billionaires that is a fact but they wont
spend any cash on liverpool fc so the question is
what are their long term plans?why dont they just jog on and sell our club to real supporters who
    love our club?

  • Jack The Lad says:

I thought we were bullied around the place tonight. Men against boys literally and as blunt as the handle of a bread knife up front.

  • merkel says:

How awful was Allen tonight . Allen and Henderson the 2 most backwards players in the PL – no wonder we are so rubbish .

Another excellent lesson in how NOT to manage a Football club by bulls@it brenda

  • Andy , durham says:

To all the Rodgers supporters out there , lets hear your excuses !
Come on ,dont be shy , its all we usually hear on this site

Rodgers has already given us his – 2 imaginary penalies and other hard luck stories , but of course it was ” another outstanding performance from the lads ” . I agree with above – he has a deserved nickname , it has to be – bullsh#t brendan

Anyway ,excuses ? whats it going to be this week ? bad luck ? bad ref ? floodlights too bright ? brendan didnt have his lucky underpants ? has to be something , so lets hear it

  • sleeps with angels says:

Yanks out!!! now! f..k right off and take brendan the blagger with yer.

    • You Heard says:

I’m a yank and have supported the Reds for years (and not the glory years) and up until the last 2 weeks, I supported BR because well…. I’m a fan… Threw thick and thin but enough is enough. This man is in way over his head. He continues to NOT stick with a starting 11 and he continues to play people who do not deserve a run (example, hendo, Allen). Why on earth he continues to sit shelvey until 20 minutes left angers me.

I don’t think we should sack him unless we know who is coming in. If he were to resign…. I wouldn’t be upset. He clearly told FSG what they wanted to hear during the interview process. It is clear that he is a small team manager.

As for FSG, I am from New Jersey so I know them & the red socks and for the last 8 years – they have pumped soo much money into the organization. Why they don’t do that with the Reds is mind boggling. I agree that they are doing a horrible job on the pitch but at the very least they are getting rid of debt so when they do sell – it will be attractive to potential buyers.

Enrique should go back to the back line. Allen, hendo benched, shelvey starts, hopefully Lucas comes back soon and but huntelarr & ba.

That is what I want for Christmas.

As for the ” I hate yanks” …. Grow up. There are greedy people every where guy. You ignorant clown…

      YNWA

      • mohammed says:

I too backed Rogers but no more , he has proven himself incompetent and should be removes .Why does he play Allen i not understand

      • sleeps with angels says:

Listen mate!America is the most evil country on the face of the earth the headquarters of the zionist movement that starts and manipulates wars
all over this beautiful planet, they back the terrorist state of israel in its occupation of palestine supplies money and weapons that kill
little kids in gaza and syria, libya, iraq and afganistan etc 300 hundred million people controlled by two sides of the same coin, voting
every four years waving flags celebrating the bankers controlling them and taking their freedom
away day by day,a country that kills its own people with false flag attacks, hope your proud of your country mate!

      • sleeps with angels says:

This is for gary london, your a bell-end mate!for starters all religion is stupid end off!you dont have to be a muslim to behave bad, remember the christian crusades? well you now have the zionist
crusades against the rest of mankind, let me ask you a question…if someone came to your house
and tried to throw you out or kill your family
would you just stand there? this is whats happening in palestine mate, and as for the israelis wanting to be left alone Dont make me laugh!they they are invaders on o ther peoples
land they have robbed and murdered and have been left to do this by the spineless united nations
and do you know why? let me tell you they have
over 300 nuclear weapons and have threatend to use
them against the west if not backed to the hilt
so dont paint the israelis as innocents while they blow up little kids in gaza.

        • gary , london says:

i agree with 1 thing – all religon is nonsense but yhe rest i think your talking rubbish .

anyway, you say americans and israelis are evil , i say m*slim are evil, and I get my comment deleted, not u . i can see where this sites opinions lie . its prejudice and disriminating

        • You heard says:

Wow …. you have issues guy. This is a sports forum not a world issue forum so I suggest you go on BBC website or CNN.

You are a joke but I wish you well.

YNWA !!!! but in your case – you’ve been walking alone for quite some time

        • sleeps with angels says:

Two points one for gary london,When i use the term
evil i dont mean in a devil/god use of the word as
i am a pagan, and my user name is a nod to another
pagan and great humanitarian neil young,i along with most other decent members of the human race
detest killing of innocent men women and children
by any nation,or individuals and believe i have the right to freedom of speech, the second point is
for “you heard” the name says it all really, sometimes political issues and sport do cross the divide mate,so when you say “wow” i find that very offensive, to mention people being
murdered on a sports forum is not so wrong because
if you are a true liverpool fc fan you should know
better as 96 of our fans were murdered in 1989 in
sheffield by police and have yet to face justice,so do you think thats a joke mate? and as for the BBC who have helped cover up what went on at sheffield or CNN that lies to the american public on a daily basis then my friend you truly
          deluded and have my sympathy,

        • You heard says:

I make no jokes of murder of any kind. I simply want to interact with my liverpool family in good and bad times. Good Day to you sir!!!
