YESTERDAY many media outlets across the UK and Portugal insisted that Spanish winger Jeffrén was high on the list of Liverpool’s potential targets come January, and today the club’s interest in the player appeared to be confirmed by the player’s agent.
“Yes, Liverpool and other Premier League clubs have been watching the player, they are very aware of Jeffrén”, agent Jorge Llagostera told Portuguese radio station Antena 1.
Jeffrén is a former Barcelona youth star – another who came through the ranks of La Masia – and made his La Liga debut with the Catalan giants in 2009 under Pep Guardiola, but failed to establish himself fully within a squad already crammed with attacking talent in the wide areas.
After just 22 appearances he was sold to Sporting Lisbon in 2011 for €3.75 million, but Barcelona retain a buy-back clause – something they do not wish to activate. Reports suggest that Brendan Rodgers wishes to take the Venezuelan-born forward on-loan in January, with an option to sign him later on.
Jeffrén is a versatile player who is adept on both wings and has an eye for goal, scoring 4 times in 16 appearances for Sporting thus far.

1 in 4 from the wing isn’t bad, especially for a youngster. He wouldn’t be topping my priority list but I wouldn’t be too disappointed if we signed him.

Not the sort signing we should be making, atleast if we have bigger ambitions than mid table. if west ham was linked with him, then would decent signing. But for fucksakes can’t the scouting team look for some quality players in europe.

Yes, this is a believable story, not. The guys agent and the press say that LFC, among orhers, have been “watching the player”. Yeah, and many, many others who can watch him on TV. How that confirms interest I have no idea.
