A Deal Agreed in Principle

LIVERPOOL FC’s 18 year old wonder-kid Raheem Sterling has agreed to sign a new deal with the club according to widespread reports in the media, including the city’s major radio station Radio City 96.7.

Sterling is said to have agreed to sign a 5 year deal in principle, and will hopefully put pen to paper prior to Saturday’s fixture at Anfield when the Reds take on Fulham.

It will be the young winger’s first major senior contract as a player and will include a significant wage increase. Securing his signature to a long-term deal will provide a huge boost to the club, as Premier League rivals sniffed around, hoping to take advantage of any lapse in negotiations.

Sterling has started all but one of the club’s Premier League fixtures this season, making 17 appearances in the process, however he’s recently looked a little jaded, prompting manager Brendan Rodgers to publically state the youngster needs a rest:

“For the kid, it’s about efficiency as well, tactically he’s still very young. That time will come and he will get the breather soon enough,” he told the official website.

Earlier in the week, the much-maligned former Director of Football at Anfield, Damien Comolli, had urged Sterling to sign a new deal with the Reds:

“My advice would be sign the contract and stay at Liverpool unless there is something which makes him really uncomfortable,” said the Frenchman.

“We tried to look after Raheem as much as we could – he was really a long-term project – and I think he should commit.

“I really don’t think money should be an issue. He is 18 and it is going to be one of many contracts he is going to sign and he is going to end up being a wealthy individual.

“The important contract, if you are money-orientated, is the one you sign when you are 31 not 18.”

I’m very happy this saga is over and he’s committed his future for long term, a much needed boost for the Reds. Thank you Raheem. YNWA.

Contracts dont really mean much these days , if things dont improve he will look to leave in a year or two

If it happens it is the only bit of good news to come out of Anfield in a long time . If he signs it is despite Rodgers nearly messing things up with his inept management and insulting the lad

  • Jack The Lad says:

well done to Brendan Rodgers, Raheem Sterling and Liverpool FC if this is true. Excellent progress and brilliant work by Rodgers to convince him to stay if it’s true about his family wanting to move to London.

    • Merida says:

Are you stupid ? BR nearly messed it up with his bull .

      • Jack The Lad says:

        Prove it?

        • redrum says:

Why do people ever bother responding to your idiotic comments ?
Prove it ? Are you saying you are sooo dumb that you dont the things Rodgers said about Sterling ?

        • Jack The Lad says:

          In reply to reddumb.
Yes, prove it that BR messed it up? Are you working inside Anfield. Oh I forgot, people like you can’t back your comments up. just shout your stupid abuse!

Once again Jack u are trolling . How many different names do u post under on this site ? Get a life

  • shibashis says:

And there were those who shouted themselves hoarse that Sterling won’t sign….sigh

  • kirbyking says:

At least Sterling shows some loyalty , despite Rodgers attempts to muck it up .

  • Ozred says:

Sterling becomes hottest young prospect in the pl – it’s Rogers fault.
Sterling signs- it’s in spite of rogers.
We win a few games in a row- Rogers got lucky
We loose players that were already gone – Rogers fault

The whole thing is getting so tired. Stop the pissing and moaning you pack of half arses. Things aren’t perfect. It very rarely is for a brand new manager taking over a weakened mid table squad.

    • Freddie says:

Your the one who is moaning , all true Liverpool fans can see Rodgers is extremely bad for LFC -they are entitled to their opinion as are you but all you do is criticise everyone else opinion .

Why you cant see what everyone else can is beyond me , maybe its difficult to judge from so far away
