Prior to kick-off there were plenty of rumours that a surprise would be on the cards when confirm the starting XI against at today. Well, here it is:

Starting team: Jones, Johnson, Wisdom, Carragher, Agger; Henderson, Lucas, Gerrard; Sturridge, Downing, Suarez.

Subs: Gulacsi, Allen, Borini, Sterling, Shelvey, Robinson, Skrtel

Glad to see the rumours that Suarez were unfounded, however Downing keeps his place ahead of Sterling, with new signing Sturridge making his debut. No Pepe Reina however, who’s out through injury. And Joe Allen is dropped…as is Skrtel.

Dont think Allen and skrtel are dropped . Just rested because Rodgers thinks its an easy game

I think and hope that Allen was dropped but Skrtel is resting. It is time to give Carra a run. I was never a fan of Hendo but he deserves a shot. He has taken many on the chin from fans, media and hasn’t cried. So character. … hope he takes advantage

When i see a superb performance like today , i think to myself , maybe ….. just maybe ive been wrong about Rodgers , but then i think .. no ,against Arsenal he will pick Allen again and we will be rubbish again

but , great win today and performance … the proper test is against Arsenal and City coming up

Great performance today. Haven’t seen much comment about sturridge over the last couple of weeks from the usual crowd of four year olds which doesnt surprise.

If we are fair dinkum about top 4 then we must take a minimum of 4 points from city and arsenal. Probably 6 are required. Not holding my breath. A far better side without Allen which surely now must be recognized by the manager. Well done Henderson. Gets better every week.

you are so stupid , a typical armchair watch the highlights fool . proper fans dont go on about a player who has started 2 games duh .

we will wait , and judge after 7 or 8 at least before building him up , pretending he is the next Suarez like you have been

Good or bad – a player shouldn’t be judged after 3 games

      Grow up

i was wondering how long it would take for the hysterical idiots to start banging on about sturridge .at least let him get his feet in the door before giving him legendary status

Good call howard , its too early to excited about DS yet , remember when Carroll scored 2 v City , you would think Carroll was the son of god after that . I think Oz is just a kid getting too excited

Do u people even enjoy football? It’s too early to give him a pat on the back after scoring three from three but not too early to write him off before he’s played a game…

          And I’m the idiot..

@Ozred – you definitely ARE the idiot

Nobody was writing off . Just most of us are sick of certain fans going on and on about the players being so wonderful when they havent proved anything YET

Agreed . Lets wait and see before blowing our own trumpets over sturridge . Oz is the type to say a player is useless after a slow start , and brilliant after good start

Calm down ,lets see what the lad can do for half a season

U really are a foolish *. You’ve just described the exact opposite of what I am.

90% of you idiots are happy to write off borini, Allen assaidi, yessil etc after 3 games. Your all just as quick to write off the manager after 3 games. I give a bloke a pat on the back for scoring three from three… And I’m insane. More whining dribble for u poor bunch who have been so hardly done by.

        Red for life. Ynwa

His first three appearances have been as good as you could ask. I’ve never said anything about him being the masiah. But if you can’t enjoy the good aspects of Liverpool performances in and amongst the inconsistency and rubbish then there’s no point.
